Dems Slam ‘Alligator Alcatraz’ as ‘Inhumane’-GOP Says Nonsense
Florida made history with the launch of Alligator Alcatraz—the bold immigration detention facility in the Everglades. Democrats are losing it over this win to combat illegal immigration and get murderers and rapists out of Florida.
Let me say this flat out: this is precisely the kind of leadership and action America needs. Democrat politicians are entitled to ask questions, see the facility, and ensure that those at the facility are being treated humanely. Still, the left’s outrage over this project is not only exaggerated, it completely ignores the critical facts and the reality on the ground. Dems described the food as a gray turkey sandwich with an apple and chips.

Meanwhile, after touring the facility, Representative Mike Caruso (R-West Palm Beach) stated that they had a huge turkey sandwich with cheese, an apple, and chips that looked delicious. He also mentioned a medical facility and a recreational center. What the left and the right had to say about what they saw was completely different. As Rep Caruso said, “the rhetoric doesn’t match the reality.”

Democrats seem to be more concerned about the thoughts and feelings of actual criminals. Republicans are interested in protecting the victims of criminals and all Floridians. So, what is Alligator Alcatraz?
What is Alligator Alcatraz, and Why Was it Built?
Alligator Alcatraz is a large, secure detention center constructed on a vast, abandoned airstrip deep within the Florida Everglades. It consists of expansive white tents, metal bunks, and reinforced chain-link fence enclosures, designed to hold up to 3,000 migrants (expandable to 5,000) awaiting deportation. Construction was completed in just over a week, costing $450 million, with significant support from federal emergency funds. Its location is intentionally remote; as Governor Ron DeSantis quipped, “From a security standpoint, if an individual manages to escape, they will have to confront numerous alligators… It’s as secure as it can be.
Who Is Housed Here and For How Long?
Contrary to Democrat storytelling, this is not a prison for American citizens or some dystopian “internment camp.” Alligator Alcatraz houses migrants detained by ICE, specifically those awaiting final removal or deportation proceedings. The typical stay could range from days to a few weeks, depending on processing times, and every person there is subject to federal immigration law—these are not innocent bystanders being plucked off the street.
Democrat Claims vs. Republican Reality
Democrats have pulled out all the stops to demonize Alligator Alcatraz, describing it as “inhumane,” an “internment camp,” and even staging press theatrics about food and hygiene conditions. But what’s really going on? Republican State Senator Blaise Ingolia, whom Governor DeSantis has now appointed as Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of the state, visited and called these claims “pure political theater.” Ingolia described the facility as “clean, air-conditioned, and well-kept,” refuting the Democrats’ statements. He noted that lawmakers can speak with detainees if requested in advance, and insisted all safety, health, and basic comfort standards are met, despite the left’s alarming accusations.
Even the facility’s tour guide, Kevin Guthrie—Executive Director of Florida’s Division of Emergency Management—mocked the way Democrats staged readings with thermometers at lightbulbs to fake higher heat complaints, calling out the “laughably far” lengths they went to cast the center in a negative light.
I can personally confirm the Dems are lying.
On the walkthrough, Guthrie even offered to stay as “long as it took” to answer all of their questions.
None of his answers would suffice because it didn’t fit their pre-scripted narrative. @MsMollyBest https://t.co/VpSMIexI8v

Thank President Trump and Governor DeSantis
This achievement is only possible because of President Trump’s relentless pursuit of secure borders and Governor DeSantis’s commitment to putting Floridians first. Both leaders toured the site before its opening, underscoring their hands-on approach and clear record on delivering the kind of immigration enforcement voters demanded.

A Model for the Nation
Let’s not mince words. Alligator Alcatraz is a necessary response to federal inaction and an innovative, secure model for other states to follow. It keeps our communities safe, respects the rule of law, and demonstrates—once again—that Republicans get things done. America should note that what’s working in Florida can, and should, work everywhere.
