The wife of an Oklahoma police chief is now facing time behind bars after being accused Thursday of kissing and sending nude photographs to one of her 15-year-old students. Emma Delaney Hancock, 26, had previously worked as a teacher in the Wellston Public School district and had been texting with her student since last year. Hancock is believed to be the daughter of Wellston Mayor Paul Whitnah.
According to court documents reviewed by KFOR News, communication between Hancock and the teenager began in October, when she obtained his phone number and texted him to request a copy of a school assignment. Later that same day, she reportedly sent a friend request to the teen on Snapchat.
A few weeks later, the student sent the substitute teacher a shirtless picture of himself. She texted back,
HANCOCK: are we sending half naked pictures now?
STUDENT: I don’t know, are we?
HANCOCK: Are you trying to get me to lose my job?

“It started evolving into a more personal type of text message, and they became sexual in nature,” said Gerald Davidson, the interim public information officer for the Oklahoma State Board of Investigations. The documents indicate that Hancock and her student regularly exchanged nude photos and videos.
The court filing also alleges that Hancock arranged for the boy to visit her classroom during lunch, where she kissed and groped him. The abuse was exposed in November after the 15-year-old shared details with one of his friends. According to an affidavit, Hancock was later confronted by that friend and admitted to the inappropriate relationship. The boy later recounted the series of events to investigators.
On Thursday, Hancock appeared in court before turning herself in to the police. She faces two counts of soliciting sexual conduct or communication with a minor using technology and two counts of lewd or indecent acts to a child under the age of 16.

A statement from Wellston Public Schools Superintendent Mike Franz reads,
“As soon as we became aware of the allegations she was removed and not allowed back on campus. We cooperated with OSBI and other agencies closely through the investigation.“
Hancock is married to Wellston’s Chief of Police Alfred Hancock, and according to a News 9 interview with residents, is the daughter of town mayor Paul Whitnah. Due to the conflict of interest, the case has been handled by the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation instead of local authorities.
She is currently out on release after posting a $50,000 bond.
