[Video] Intense Footage Released of Hero Cops Taking Down Nashville Shooter

The Nashville police department released intense body camera footage Tuesday from the two hero cops that took down Covenant School shooter Audrey Hale. Officials reported that police received the first active shooter call at 10:13 am on Monday. Fourteen minutes later, Hale had been shot dead by officers. The footage shows police storming the building, searching for the killer before engaging in a brief shootout.

“Nashville Police have released the bodycam footage and it cannot be stressed enough how remarkable this response was,” Sara Gonzalez of The Blaze wrote. “These men are absolute heroes.”

The Nashville police department released the body camera footage of officers Rex Engelbert and Michael Collazo.

In the video, Engelbert retrieves a rifle from his squad car before storming the building with fellow officers. “Let’s go! I need three!” he can be heard shouting just before entering. The school’s alarm system can be heard blaring. Engelbert sweeps several empty classrooms before pursuing the shooter to the school’s second floor.

The graphic footage then shows the officers racing after Hale, passing the body of a victim. After a brief shootout, the officer’s corner Hale before Engelbert drops her. One of the men can be heard shouting, “throw your hands away from the gun, get your hands away from the gun!” Video from Collazo’s perspective shows him firing a second round of shots at Hale on the ground.

The swift response of the Nashville Police Department has been praised, with many calling the officers’ actions heroic.

“This is Officer Rex Englebert and Officer Michael Collazo. The two men who charged into that school under fire yesterday and took out the shooter. In doing so, they unquestionably saved many lives. Heroes, the real kind.”

“The heroes are the cops who ran toward gunfire in Nashville. The real villains are the people who have been pushing transgenderism, the doctors administering the drugs, the politicians and pundits promoting its normalization.”

“These two young ⁦[Metro Nashville Police Department] officers are legitimate heroes for running straight at the murderer in Nashville yesterday. There’s no telling how many lives they saved. This is textbook precision on how to handle an active shooter, and we are grateful for their bravery.”

“We applaud the Nashville PD on their response time, bravery and professionalism in resolving what could have been a way worse situation. At the same time. Being armed is a response time of about 1-2 seconds. Faculty should be encouraged to be armed and trained.”

According to police, a manifesto left behind by Hale indicated that she initially planned to target a different school in the area. She reportedly changed her plans after realizing that security at the original school was too high, and attacked The Covenant School instead. Police said that Hale’s manifesto contained detailed plans for the mass killing, as well as other “writings” that the department did not elaborate on. Nashville police said that Hale, a biological woman who identified as male, harbored “resentment” towards the Christian school after having attended it as a child.
