Lewis Phillips, 27, of Tamarac, is in the Broward County jail after BSO Detectives tracked him down for placing a cell phone underneath a woman’s dress.

The crime occurred on Dec. 17, 2022, inside a Family Dollar store located at 8076 W. McNab Road in North Lauderdale.
The victim told deputies that she was shopping at the Family Dollar when she saw a man wearing a white T-shirt wrapped around his head following her around the store. The victim stated that the suspect, later identified as Lewis Phillips, appeared to be taking videos and pictures of her with his cell phone without her permission. Phillips continued to film the woman throughout the store. The victim got tired of being followed around and confronted Phillips, telling him to stop it.
The victim said she finished shopping and headed to the checkout line to pay for her items. Phillips walked up behind her and placed a cell phone directly under her dress. The victim attempted to grab Phillips’s phone from his hand, and the two struggled for possession of the phone. Phillips’ T-shirt fell off during the phone fight, exposing his face. Phillips got control of his phone and walked out of the store, thinking he got away with it, but the entire incident was caught on camera.

On Tuesday, Jan. 10, surveillance video of the incident was released to the public by Broward Detectives, and Phillips was arrested later that evening.
Phillips was taken into custody at the Broward Sheriff’s Office Main Jail. He has been charged with one count of video voyeurism. Phillips also faces two probation violation charges. One for aggravated assault with a weapon with no intent to kill and the other for grand theft/sudden snatch without a weapon. He is being held without bond due to violating the terms of his pre-trial release.
