Under GOP Pressure: FBI Director Releases Doc Alleging Biden Bribery Connection

FBI Director Christopher Wray caved to mounting Republican pressure on Friday, turning over an informant file to Congress that alleges President Biden was involved in an international bribery scheme while serving as vice president.

Initially, Wray refused to share the document at all, even with Congress on a non-public basis. In response, Congress threatened to hold Wray in contempt of Congress if he refused to turn it over, pushing him to relent.

However, Wray didn’t offer much compromise, only allowing two congressmen to view a heavily redacted document.

As the other congressman to see the document, Comer made clear in a statement that this compromise did not comply with the subpoena and was unacceptable.

“While Director Wray – after a month of refusing to even acknowledge that the form existed – has offered to allow us to see the documents in person at FBI headquarters, we have been clear that anything short of producing these documents to the House Oversight Committee is not in compliance with the subpoena. If the FBI fails to hand over the FD-1023 form as required by the subpoena, the House Oversight Committee will begin contempt of Congress proceedings,” the Kentucky Republican said.

Grassley also chimed in on the statement.

“While the FBI has apparently leaked classified information to the news media in recent weeks, jeopardizing its own human sources, it continues to treat Congress like second-class citizens by refusing to provide a specific unclassified record…Director Wray confirmed what my whistleblowers have told me pursuant to legally protected disclosures: the FBI-generated document is real, but the bureau has yet to provide it to Congress in defiance of a legitimate congressional subpoena. This failure comes with consequences.”

During his interview with Fox News, Grassley reiterated this idea. However, he refused to characterize the document’s content before it was made republic on principle, insisting anything less than public revelation was “not good enough.

“They’ve got to produce this document. They’re up against what the Durham report has said about the shortcomings and the political bias of the FBI, and this is just one more example of them not being forthcoming to the public because the public’s business ought to be public, and there’s no reason for a non-classified document to be held in secret.” the 89-year-old Republican said.

Under this mounting pressure, Wray finally caved, handing over the document implicating Biden to Congress in full. In another Fox News Interview, Grassley celebrated the win and specified the Republican mission Grassley said to address the political bias in the FBI’s investigations, revealed by the email scandal involving Hillary Clinton and the Durham report.

“We are not out to get the FBI. We’re out to change the culture of the FBI at headquarters…. the FBI has to straighten out their house.”
