UFC Fighter Holly Holm Calls Out ‘Sexualization’ of Kids in Post-Fight Interview
MMA star Holly Holm blew away opponent Yana Santos in the UFC ring Saturday night and used her post-fight interview to call for an end to the “sexualization” of children. Holm’s remarks earned uproarious applause from the audience, and at-home viewers praised her comments on social media.
“I feel like I have the platform to say it, I need to say it. I just feel it’s really sad, all the sexualization of our children right now and we need to protect them. Whatever that may be, let’s protect the children.”
“Absolutely BASED,” Project Veritas journalist Eric Spracklen said in response to the video, which now has over 1.2 million views. “The tide is turning.”

Fellow MMA veteran Michael Chandler also praised Holm’s comments shortly after the fight. Minutes later, he criticized a “gender-bending, confusing, mustache-wielding [Amazon] commercial” that reportedly aired just after Holm’s brief speech.

During a post-fight press conference, Holm was asked by a reporter to expand on the remarks she made,
“You know there’s a lot of things I don’t ever want to be… I’m not like a real political person. I don’t like to put that stuff on any of my social media. But there’s also just right and wrong, and I feel like everybody should be on the same side on that. I don’t feel like that has anything to do with left side–right side or anything like that, I feel like everybody should be wanting to protect their children.”
Holm then added that while she was not heavily involved in politics, the issue of sexualizing children was personal to her,
“And there’s a lot of child trafficking–I mean that’s like the extreme part–but there’s a lot of levels to it. You just see it being almost more accepted, and I think that that’s really sad. So I just feel like we should all do what we can. I know it’s like, a lot of people don’t even know what to do but if I can at least have a voice on it, then that’s something I can speak out on.
And it’s just to get everybody together to protect children. Childhood really affects people in their long-term life too. I have friends that are adults and their biggest thing that kind of is a shadow, kind of that dark space in them, is being sexualized when they were young. And I just feel like it’s kind of getting accepted.”

Holm, known as “the Preacher’s Daughter” in the ring, describes herself as a devoted Christian. “I went to church every Sunday morning, Sunday night, and Wednesday night,” she told the Albuquerque Journal in a 2015 interview. “We grew up living in a house owned by the church. I always had to be on time for services and held out with the nursery. I couldn’t be a selfish kid.” She is known to sometimes bring a Bible with her to Starbucks.
