Tulsi Gabbard Tears Democrats to Shreds Before Leaving Party

2020 Presidential Candidate and Former Hawaiian Congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard took to Twitter Tuesday morning and announced that she was officially leaving the Democratic Party.

In the over-a-minute-long video, Gabbard lists a string of ideas, practices, and beliefs now part and parcel of the Democratic party that she says she can no longer abide by.

“I can no longer remain in today’s Democratic Party that is now under the complete control of an elitist cabal of warmongers driven by cowardly wokeness, who divide us by racializing every issue & stoke anti-white racism, actively work to undermine our God-given freedoms, are hostile to people of faith & spirituality, demonize the police & protect criminals at the expense of law-abiding Americans, believe in open borders, weaponize the national security state to go after political opponents, and above all, dragging us ever closer to nuclear war.”

Gabbard affirms her belief in the founding ideas of America as “of, by, and for the people” and invites “fellow common sense independent-minded Democrats” to join her in leaving.

Gabbard quickly followed the video up with another tweet, assuring readers that the decision was not made lightly and referring them to her episode on The Joe Rogan Experience for a more extensive understanding.

Gabbard made waves last week with her tactical shooting video.

Gabbard’s sentiments are not unique, and average Americans’ continuing to recoil away from the Democratic party is one of multiple competing forces in the upcoming midterms. Nowhere is this more true than in Florida. A state that a few years ago considered a purple state is now red deep enough to be compared to Texas.

This trend seems likely to continue, with Governor Ron DeSantis holding an 11-point lead over Crist with just a month until the election, per the Orlando Sentinel. Even more telling, DeSantis holds a commanding 13-point advantage regarding independents, primarily those disaffected and politically homeless voters Gabbard is appealing to.

Gabbard is betting that she is representing a large number of Americans with this move, liberals who have become disenchanted with the Democratic Party’s current platform and direction. And if the replies are anything to go by, she bet correctly.

At the same time, many respondents proved her point about the toxicity in the modern democratic party.

The effect of Gabbard, and the voting group she appeals to, will be revealed come midterms.
