Trump to Meet With Potential VP Picks in Palm Beach
Presumptive GOP Presidential nominee Donald Trump will return to the Sunshine State on Friday, where he is expected to meet with several potential running mates. Trump will conclude another week of courtroom proceedings in Manhattan before flying to the Republican National Committee’s spring donor retreat in South Florida. There, he will be joined by a number of “special guests”–many of whom he is reportedly considering for his ticket.
Fox News reported on the closed-press event, which will take place at the Four Seasons Hotel in Palm Beach and later at Trump’s Mar-a-Lago club. The outlet interviewed Republican Jewish Coalition CEO Matt Brooks, who said that the retreat comes at a pivotal moment for Trump, as he is limited from the campaign trail due to his ongoing trial.
“This event takes on even greater significance in light of the fact that the President is constrained from travel due to his trial. While at the same time, Biden can travel all over the country to raise money,” Brooks said. He added that “major donors are stepping up now in a big way as we watch in horror the nightly images on TV of our country spiraling out of control.”

In addition to several major GOP donors, Trump will reportedly be joined by Senators Tim Scott (R-SC), JD Vance (R-OH), and Marco Rubio (R-FL). Governors Doug Burgum (R-ND) and Kristie Noem (R-SD), as well as Congressmen Elise Stefanik (R-NY) and Byron Donalds (R-FL), will also be special guests. Former Presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy will also be present.
While Trump and his allies have previously hinted at some of the names on the list as possible running mates, the former President maintains that he will not announce his choice soon. “I’ll be picking, but probably not too much before the convention, which I happen to be having in the great state of Wisconsin,” Trump told FOX 6 Milwaukee during a visit to the state on Wednesday.

Notice to reporters: you should not make these kind of assumptions and then commit them to paper…they will only come back to bite you in the ass https://t.co/ICYfGA5hfi

On Thursday, Bloomberg reported that Trump had narrowed his list to four top contenders: Burgum, Vance, Rubio, and Scott. Multiple Trump advisers, however, have since denied the report and slammed the outlet for its coverage.
In a statement, senior adviser Brian Hughes wrote, ” Anyone claiming to know who or when President Trump will choose his VP is lying, unless the person is named Donald J. Trump.”
Another senior adviser to the former President, Chris LaCivita, also railed against the report, posting on X, “Notice to reporters: you should not make these kind of assumptions and then commit them to paper … they will only come back to bite you in the ass.”
During a January Fox News town hall, Trump indicated he had already made his pick, saying, “I know who it’s going to be.” In response to questions about his choice, however, the former President said, “I can’t tell you that, really.”
In 2016, Trump announced then-Indiana Governor Mike Pence as his running mate in the final week of the GOP national convention.
