Trump Taunts Biden to Set Up Debate: ‘Let’s Go Joe’
With less than six months until election day, no official date has been set for a potential debate between former President Donald Trump and current President Joe Biden. But while uncertainty still surrounds the 2024 debates, a war of words between the two candidates this week suggests the country is inching closer to a televised rematch.
“Come on, Joe. Let’s do it! Anytime, anywhere, anyplace,” Trump said this week in a video posted to Truth Social. The presumptive GOP nominee has issued frequent calls to set up the debate in recent months, even going as far as to unveil an empty podium at a rally and invite Biden to go head-to-head.
Biden however has been largely mum in recent months, suggesting last month that his willingness to debate was dependent on the former President’s behavior.
That tune changed two weeks ago however, when Biden told radio host Howard Stern that he would be “happy” to debate Trump. Still, Biden told the shock jock he didn’t know “when” that debate would be.
In response, Trump reiterated his pledge to debate Biden “anywhere.”

“Dear Joe, now that you’ve committed to debate on the ratings-challenged Howard Stern Show, let’s set it up right now,” Trump said in a recorded statement. He suggested multiple venues for the debate, including the White House, which he said would be familiar for the both of them. “I’m ready to go anywhere that you are. We could do it in D.C., even pinpoint the White House, or in New York when your radical-left fascists are finished with the election interference against your political opponent, me, because we’re gonna win and we’re gonna win big.”
“In any event, let’s get it done. The people of our country deserve to know why you have allowed 15 million people in, probably many more than that, into our country from prisons and mental institutions, and terrorists are pouring into our country. They’re invading our country and you’re letting them do it.” ~ Donald Trump
Shortly after Trump’s remarks, reporters once again asked Biden about his debate plans. “Set it up!” he said in quick reply.
Speaking with MSNBC Wednesday, a spokesman for Biden also confirmed the President’s intention to debate, saying, “President Biden has made it very clear he will be debating Donald Trump.”

In response, Trump issued yet another taunt, telling Biden, “Let’s set it up right now. I’m ready to go anywhere that you are… Anytime, anywhere, anyplace, let’s go Joe. Let’s debate.”
Trump and Biden remain neck-and-neck in current national polling, with RealClearPolitics giving Trump an edge of just over 1 point. Latest polling by CNN however found a much wider lead for Trump at 6 points. Biden’s job approval rating remains underwater, with ABC News finding 35 percent approval among voters, compared to 57 percent disapproval.
