Trump Shreds ‘Deranged’ Jack Smith for Gag Order Request
Former President Donald Trump shredded Special Counsel Jack Smith in a new statement Friday. Trump’s remarks followed shortly after a federal judge unsealed Smith’s request for a gag order, which he filed to limit what the ex-POTUS could say about the ongoing prosecution.
“Biden Prosecutor, Deranged Jack Smith, has asked the Court to limit 45th President, and leading Republican Nominee (by more than 50 points, & beating Dems!) DONALD J. TRUMP’S, PUBLIC STATEMENTS,” Trump said in a Truth Social post.
“So, I’m campaigning for President against an incompetent person who has WEAPONIZED the DOJ & FBI to go after his Political Opponent, & I am not allowed to COMMENT? They Leak, Lie, & Sue, & they won’t allow me to SPEAK? How else would I explain that Jack Smith is DERANGED, or Crooked Joe is INCOMPETENT?”

Smith is leading two investigations against the former President involving the discovery of classified documents at his Mar-a-Lago residence and alleged interference in the 2020 election. The Special Counsel has accused Trump of spreading “knowingly false accusations of misconduct” against him and making “baseless claims” about U.S. District Judge Tanya Chutkan, who is overseeing proceedings.
Smith submitted a 19-page gag order request, which cites several of Trump’s Truth Social posts as evidence.
In one instance, Smith references a post where Trump described Chutkan as “a fraud dressed up as a judge in Washington, D.C. who is a radical Obama hack,” later referring to her as a “biased, Trump-hating judge.”
Chutkan was appointed to the bench in 2014 by then-President Barack Obama. Financial records also show that Chutkan donated $1,500 to the Obama campaign between 2008 and 2009.
Smith also cited a post where Trump referred to Washington DC as a “filthy and crime-ridden embarrassment to our nation,” saying he would not get a fair trial since it is “over 95% anti-Trump.”
In 2020, just 5 percent of D.C. voters cast a ballot for Trump, compared to 92 percent who voted for Biden.

Later on Friday, Trump continued to assail the Special Counsel, calling him a “deranged person.”
“Did you see today that deranged Jack Smith – he’s the prosecutor, he’s a deranged person – wants to take away my rights under the First Amendment? Wants to take away my right of speaking freely and openly.” Trump said.
“Never forget our enemies want to stop us because we are the only ones that can stop them. They want to take away my freedom because I will never let them take away your freedom.”
He also said that he considered his indictments a “badge of honor.” Trump currently faces 91 felony charges across four different state and federal cases.
“Every time the radical left Democrats, Marxists, and communists and fascists indict me, I consider it a great badge of honor. I really do. Because, in a true sense, I’m being indicted for you. Thanks a lot, everybody, I appreciate it. I appreciate it.”
