Trump Rockets Ahead in Swing States, Crushes Biden in Latest Polls
Presumptive GOP nominee Donald Trump has widened his lead over President Joe Biden in nearly every battleground state, positioning himself for an upset victory in November. Since the start of the year, polls have shown a neck-and-neck contest between the two major candidates, often within a margin of a single percentage point. Since Biden’s disastrous debate performance last month, his campaign has collapsed in several major polls, leaving Trump with a commanding lead in almost every critical state.
According to RealClearPolitics, Trump currently holds a lead of 3.3 points over Biden in a head-to-head matchup. When evaluated in a five-way race with candidates Robert F. Kennedy Jr., Jill Stein, and Cornel West, that leads expands to nearly 5 points.
But the 2024 election will be decided in the key swing states of Arizona, Nevada, Wisconsin, Michigan, Pennsylvania, North Carolina, and Georgia. Across the board, Trump has climbed to a significant lead over Biden. In Arizona, Pennsylvania, and Nevada—all of which went to Biden in 2020—Trump is averaging an over 5-point lead.

btw this is insane. Trump had like 2 polls the entire 2020 cycle that ever showed him leading. At this point in 2020 the averages were like Biden +8 pic.twitter.com/Qr2inbENp0

Trump has also widened his lead over Biden in Georgia, currently leading in the polls by an average of 4 points. The former President also leads in Wisconsin and Michigan, albeit by smaller leads of 2.2 and 0.6 points, respectively. He is expected to hold onto North Carolina, which he won in 2020, where he is currently averaging a nearly 6-point lead.
The figures reflect a weekslong downward trend since the June presidential debate, where Biden’s rambling and confused performance sent his campaign into a tailspin. Several top Democrats have doubted the President’s ability to win re-election, with some calling for him to drop out before the convention.
On Tuesday, U.S. Sen Michael Bennett became the first Democratic senator to say that Biden cannot beat Trump publicly. Bennett told CNN reporter Kaitlan Collins in an interview that,
“Donald Trump is on track, I think, to win this election, and maybe win it by a landslide, and take with him the Senate and the House. So for me, this isn’t a question about polling. It’s not a question about politics. It’s a moral question about the future of our country.”

Amid his widening lead, Trump taunted Biden during a rally on Tuesday. Speaking at his Doral golf course in South Florida, Trump challenged the 81-year-old President to a golf match, a callback to the viral moment from last month’s debate.
“I’m also officially challenging crooked Joe to an 18-hole golf match right here on Doral’s Blue Monster, considered one of the greatest tournament golf courses anywhere in the world, one of the great courses of the world,” Trump said. “It will be among the most-watched sporting events in history. Maybe bigger than the Ryder Cup or even the Masters.
“And I will even give Joe Biden 10 strokes a side. Ten strokes, that’s a lot. That means 20 strokes, in case you don’t play golf. And if he wins, I will give the charity of his choice, any charity of his choice, $1 million. And I’ll bet you he doesn’t take the offer.”
The next debate between Trump and Biden is scheduled for September 10 on ABC News.
