Trump Pledges to End Birthright Citizenship for ‘Illegal Immigrants’
President Donald J. Trump announced Tuesday that he would sign a day-one executive order instructing federal agencies that “the future children of illegal immigrants will not receive US citizenship.” Trump said the “correct interpretation of the law” would serve as the legal basis for such a move, despite the constitutional restraints on restricting birthright citizenship.
The 45th president also said he would be ending “birth tourism,” – a practice used to take advantage of birthright citizenship without necessarily entering the country illegally.
“They’re coming by the thousands. By the tens of thousands… my policy will choke off a major incentive for continued illegal immigration, deter more migrants from coming, and encourage many of the aliens Joe Biden has unlawfully allowed in our country to go back to their home country.” ~President Donald Trump
The remarks came as part of a video series called “Agenda47,” where the president has outlined his ambitious policy goals if he were to be reelected.

Trump’s proposal would require one parent to have US citizenship for it to be passed down to their child.
The 76-year-old political and business magnate constantly attacked immigration system abuses during his 2016 candidacy, during which time he also promised to end birthright citizenship. However, the president was rebuked by former House Speaker Paul Ryan on constitutional grounds and ultimately never went through with the promised executive order.

Of course, Ryan never issued a “constitution” objection to the infamous PATRIOT Act and only utilized it when his wing of the party – or their donors – were in danger.
With President Trump embarking on a warpath with establishment Republicans and Democrats alike, it seems the president has lost his patience with the selective use of the Constitution by his political enemies.
He probably wants to challenge it with SCOTUS since there is controversy to it's original meaning.

Despite Trump’s immigration promises, the president softened on the issue in 2016 after facing unprecedented backlash from Democrats and revolt from fellow Republicans – something which both critics and 2024 primary adversaries haven’t forgotten. The DeSantis campaign and its supporters have slammed Trump numerous times over his softening stance on DACA and his previous failure to end birthright citizenship.
“If only Trump had followed through when he first talked about doing this in 2015. Or 2018. Or 2019 when he was ‘very serious.’ Or 2020. Trump had 4 years as president to write this executive order. Why didn’t he?” ~”Never Back Down” PAC

Many are calling Trump’s policy proposals a true return to his 2016 form. The President’s “Agenda47” has outlined a series of policy proposals to create a “quantum leap in the American standard of living,” – similar to the MAGA messaging during his first presidential campaign.
Instead of taking cues from establishment Republicans for his messaging and ideas, as he did from 2018 forward, the former leader of the free world seems ready for a renewed and unprecedented effort against the D.C. swamp.
“Americanism, not globalism, will be our credo!” ~President Trump in 2016
