Trump Jr. Shares Potential Picks for Father’s VP: Tucker, DeSantis & More

Former President Donald Trump’s dominance in the Iowa Caucuses has set the Republican party alight with speculation over who will receive the Vice Presidential nod.

On Thursday, Trump’s eldest son, Donald Jr., appeared on Newsmax to share some of the names that are reportedly on the table, including former Fox News Host Tucker Carlson, Senator J.D. Vance of Ohio, and even Florida Governor Ron DeSantis.

“So Trump has already said that he’s picked his VP, but he can’t tell us. Back in 2016 he didn’t pick somebody that was running for president. He chose Mike Pence, who at the time was not a candidate for president. Could you see your father running with Ron DeSantis?” host Rob Finnerty of ‘Wake Up America’ asked.

While Trump Jr. appeared skeptical of a Trump-DeSantis ticket in light of the ongoing GOP primary battle, he said it was unlikely that his father would rule out someone who is a “leading contender.”

“Like a Ron DeSantis, could I see? You’re never gonna rule out someone that is a leading contender,” Trump Jr. replied. “It doesn’t mean that’s who you go with. I could see other people that would be great. I’d love to see you know a J. D. Vance. I’d love to see a Tucker Carlson.”

Finnerty pressed Trump Jr. on the likelihood of Carlson joining the ticket. Carlson–once the most-watched cable news host before his sudden ousting from Fox–has long been rumored to be on Trump’s VP shortlist.

“Don, is your dad serious about Tucker Carlson? Are those rumors serious?” Finnerty asked.

“That clearly would be on the table, right? I mean they’re very friendly, I think they agree on virtually all of these things. They certainly agree on stopping the never-ending wars,” Trump Jr. said. “And so, I would love to see that happen. That would certainly be a contender,”

The former President’s son stressed the importance of having a “fighter” in the White House, adding that Republicans in the House and Senate cannot be relied on.

“You need someone who’s in alignment, as well as, like, aggressive. You actually need a fighter. The Republicans in Washington, D.C., are weak. You can have the House, the Senate, and they’ll still roll over.”

Trump Jr. also floated the possibility of former housing secretary Ben Carson as his father’s running mate.

Trump Jr. however, bristled at the thought of one Republican joining the ticket.

“I would do whatever I could to make sure it wasn’t Nikki Haley.” he told Finnerty. “That’s my opinion, I don’t make these decisions.”

“But your father listens to you, maybe more than anybody else,” the host replied.

“I’ve been pretty involved in the political game for quite some time, and I think, you know, more importantly I live with the base. I hang out with the base; those are my people, those are my friends,” Trump Jr. added.
