Trump Campaign No Longer Planning to Hire Laura Loomer, Report
According to reports, Donald Trump’s 2024 campaign is no longer planning to hire activist Laura Loomer. The New York Times first reported on Friday that the former president had directed his aides to bring Loomer on board, sparking blowback from several Trump allies. The campaign reportedly reversed course that afternoon, just hours after Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene condemned Loomer as “mentally unstable and a documented liar.”
According to the report by New York Times reporters Maggie Haberman and Jonathan Swan, Trump had recently directed his campaign aides to “give [Loomer] a role in support of his candidacy,” citing “two of the people familiar with the move.” Loomer did not appear to deny the report. She reaffirmed her support for former president Trump and decried the leakers,
“Leakers violate their NDAs and betray President Trump by leaking private conversations to the [New York Times] in an effort to undermine their boss,” she wrote.

The report noted that Trump aides were skeptical of the decision, noting Loomer’s long and controversial history in the Republican party. The former president’s advisers reportedly predicted that hiring Loomer would result in a backlash and were almost proven correct.
“Laura Loomer is mentally unstable and a documented liar. She can not be trusted,” Georgia congressman Marjorie Taylor Greene wrote on Twitter shortly after the publishing of the report. Another Trump ally, Greene, recently appeared in Manhattan to protest the arraignment of the former president. In a lengthy tweet condemning the move, Greene vowed to “make sure he knows,” referring to Trump.
“She spent months lying about me and attacking me just because I supported Kevin McCarthy for Speaker and after I had refused to endorse her last election cycle. She loves the alleged FBI informant and weirdo Nick Fuentes. She tried to get hired on the Ye campaign after the infamous Maralago dinner, but Kanye West refused to hire her so now she’s running to Trump. Never hire or do business with a liar. Liars are toxic and poisonous to everything they touch. I’ll make sure he knows.”

“[Marjorie Taylor Greene] the only liar is YOU!” Loomer wrote in response. “I have screenshots of you telling me you want me in Congress and that you were going to endorse me. You only changed your mind once you made deals with McCarthy. You’re a disloyal liar.”
After the two traded jabs on Twitter, the New York Times updated its reporting, saying that the Trump campaign would not move forward with hiring Loomer.

A note on the updated report reads,
“Some of Mr. Trump’s aides were said to have concerns that such a hire would cause a backlash, given her history of inflammatory statements and her embrace of the Republican Party’s fringes.
That proved to be correct: The New York Times’s report on the potential hire ignited a firestorm among some of Mr. Trump’s most vocal conservative supporters, and by late Friday, a high-ranking campaign official said Ms. Loomer was no longer going to be hired.”
In response, Loomer posted a press statement to Twitter, calling for the media focus to be removed from her and redirected towards the “unprecedented shift toward authoritarianism in America.” As Florida Jolt has previously reported, two-time congressional candidate Loomer intends to make a third bid for the U.S. House in 2024.
