‘They’re Not Watchable’ – Trump Mocks GOP Debaters at Hialeah Rally

While the dwindling GOP primary field debated onstage in downtown Miami on Wednesday, Donald Trump opted to wage his campaign on a different stage. The former President–who continues to hold a commanding lead in the polls–instead spent his evening in Hialeah just miles away, taunting his opponents and vowing a return to the White House.

“You have about, what, seven or eight candidates left?” Trump asked. “I think they’re at a debate tonight. Nobody’s talking about it.”

“They’re not watchable,” Trump told his supporters, bashing the televised GOP debates. He has so far skipped all three debates of the 2024 cycle, with a spokesman telling reporters Wednesday that the former President intends to skip the fourth debate as well.

“You know, the last debate was the lowest-rated debate in the history of politics. So, therefore, do you think we did the right thing by not participating?”

Turning his attention to the candidates, Trump took a passing shot at his ally-turned-adversary Ron DeSantis, calling him “one of the dumber ones.”

“‘He doesn’t have the courage to stand up,'” Trump said, mimicking DeSantis’s criticism.

“Well, listen, I’m standing in front of tens of thousands of people right now, and it’s on television. That’s a hell of a lot harder to do than a debate. That’s a hell of a lot harder.”

Trump also dedicated a substantial portion of his 80-minute rally to criticizing President Joe Biden’s border policy. With an estimated 7 million illegal immigrants having crossed into the United States since Biden took office, Trump vowed to enact the “largest domestic deportation operation” in history if elected to a second term.

“One day one I will terminate every open-borders policy of the Biden administration, and we will begin the largest domestic deportation operation in American history… So sad we even have to talk about this. Wouldn’t it be great if we could just talk about fixing our country, making it great without having to do all this? But we have no choice. We have bad people, terrorists at levels that nobody has ever seen.”

Reflecting on his first term, Trump told the crowd, “You know, we had a good strong policy,”

“We wanted people to come to our country, but we wanted them to come in legally, legally.”

Like the GOP candidates onstage in Miami, Trump also offered his support to Israel in the war against Hamas. “If you hate America, if you want to abolish Israel, if you sympathize with jihadists, then we don’t want you in our country, and we are not going to let you come into our country,” he said.

The former President pledged that any foreign national who protests on behalf of Hamas would face deportation under a second Trump White House.

“To all the resident aliens who joined in the pro-jihadist protests and became very violent and started destroying our capital and many other places: We put you on notice, Come 2025, we will find you and we will deport you.”
