Donald Trump made his first public appearance since the documents revealing his indictment over the allegedly classified documents he took to his Mar-a-Lago home, and the ex-president took the opportunity to bash the Democratic establishment.
Trump made his statement to conservatives gathered at the Georgia GOP state convention on Saturday afternoon.
“The baseless indictment of me by the Biden administration’s weaponized Department of Injustice will go down as one of the most horrific abuses of power in the history of our country, I think it already is.”

Trump ripped the DOJ for its “double standards,” investigating him for document custody and not pursuing President Biden for the classified documents found in his home and offices. At the same time, defenders of Biden note that Biden was cooperative after the discovery; many of the document dates go back to before Biden was President when he had no power to declassify. This is in contrast to Trump, who, as President, had the unilateral ability to classify or declassify documents.
“Republicans are treated much differently at the Justice Department than Democrats,” Trump lamented. He continued to attack the DOJ as “corrupt” and “weaponized,” telling a Georgia rally: “Every time I fly over a blue state, I get a subpoena.”
However, Trump reaffirmed his commitment to keep fighting in the face of these attacks.
“I’ve put everything on the line I will never yield, I never yield. I will never be deterred. I will never stop fighting for you. I didn’t need this I had a great life. People said ‘would you do it again?” the answer is yes because we’re going to make America great again.”

At a North Carolina rally, Trump floated the idea that the timing of the reveal of his indictment was no accident.
“It’s no coincidence they indicted me on the very same day it was revealed that the FBI hid explosive evidence that Joe Biden took a $5 million illegal bribe from Ukraine,” Trump said.
“This would have been the biggest story in history ten years ago,” Trump added. “The only good thing about it is that it’s driven my poll numbers way up, can you believe it?'” he half-joked.
Rep. Greene, invited onto the stage by Trump during his speech, said: ‘This is something that you know, this is something that I know – President Trump is beating Biden in poll after poll after poll.’
“This vicious persecution is a travesty of justice,’ Trump insisted. ‘You’re watching Joe Biden [try] to jail his leading political opponent – an opponent that is beating him by a lot in the polls – just like they do in Stalin-ist Russia, or communist China. No different.”
Trump went on to call the Democrats “communists.”

“The Democrat Communists who jail their opponents while they protect the murderers who prowl our cities day and night, and other brazen criminals,” he said, adding, “No criminal is more protected than crooked Joe Biden.”
