Clarke entered the Trading Post at the Burnt Store Marina in Punta Gorda along with the victim. As the victim stood at the checkout to pay for their drinks, Clarke is seen on store surveillance video grabbing a pair of scissors from a cup near the cash register, and in an apparently unprovoked attack, began stabbing the victim in the neck, torso, and head. Clarke also retrieved other knives and continued attacking the victim for several minutes.

According to WINK news, the LCSO arrest report states that Clarke was attempting to behead the victim. The arrest report says the victim had picked up Clarke at the hospital after the victim’s father asked him to fly down from Chicago. Clarke had been in the hospital for abdominal pain. After leaving the hospital, Clarke told the victim he was hungry, so they stopped at The Trading Post in Burst Store Marina.
On their Facebook Account, Lee County Sheriff Carmine Marceno said:
“This disgusting crime will not be tolerated in Lee County.” and “I am proud of the quick response of our deputies that helped save the victim’s life, and the hard work of my detectives to take Clarke off the street.”
The victim was airlifted to Gulf Coast Medical Center for Emergency treatment.
Clarke was transported to the Lee County Jail aka the “Marceno Motel” charged with attempted murder where he is being held without bond.
