MSNBC Host Calls ‘To Completely Wipe Out’ GOP After Texas Shooting

In a recent interview on MSNBC, show host Roland Martic explicitly called for the Republican party to be completely wiped out as “the only way” to prevent mass shootings.

When asked about the commonality of mass shootings, Martin went on his tirade, claiming Republicans have “done nothing.”

“The only way to change any of this is to completely wipe out the Republican Party. Somebody has to say it. Greg Abbott, the governor, is sick and demented. He has literally done nothing. Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick. Republican leadership in the state, they have literally done nothing. They have ignored the Uvalde parents. I was at the Texas Capitol, uh, a few months ago, where they were rallying there. They are not going to do anything. B

 

It’s important to note that Martin’s claims Republicans are doing “nothing” is false. In an interview on Fox News Sunday, Abbott reviewed his strategies to address the issue.

“What Texas is doing in a big-time way, we are working to address that anger and violence but going to its root cause, which is addressing the mental health problems behind it,” the governor said.

Abbott also advocated for stricter laws and harsher penalties to “get guns out of the hands of dangerous criminals and to increase penalties for criminals who possess guns.”

“People want a quick solution. The long-term solution here is to address the mental health issue,” Abbott said, pointing out that there have been mass shootings in states with varying levels of the gun control Martin is calling for.

Aside from the policy debate, Martin accused Republicans of suppressing votes and not caring about “bodies piled up on the sidewalk.”

 

“But here’s also what has to happen: people of conscience are going to have to stop sitting at home and saying, ‘Oh, we want something done.’ In the last election, 75% of all Texans under the age of 30 did not vote. And so the only way to change this is to move these people out of office. There is no other way. And so yes, you see what they’ve done when it comes to voter suppression. They wanna remove the voting locations from college campuses. But the way to counter this, you have to take these people out of office and put in people who are going to pass the laws. That is the only way. Because it is clear they’re not going to change the laws because they are in, so in love with guns, and so in love with the Second Amendment crowd, they do not care to see bodies piled up on the sidewalk.”

Several users pointed out that Martin’s claims about the Republican Party and its priorities, along with his calls for it to be wiped out, could be considered a call for violence by the standards of the mainstream media.
