Orlando, Fla. — Today, Carolina Amesty, State Representative for Florida’s District 45, released the following statement about another attack article by the Orlando Sentinel:
As an elected official fighting for conservative values, it’s not unusual to have to withstand negative attacks by the press. Unfortunately, the Orlando Sentinel has taken yellow journalism and accelerated into blatant and misleading attacks which are beneath any substantive publication. Their antagonism against conservative political leaders and private Christian education is on full display in a recent article, in which they push falsehoods about whether Central Christian University actually employed certain members of its faculty.

The entire article hinges on the question of one man’s employment status at CCU. The simple fact is that Dr. Shaffer worked for CCU from 2021-2023, and CCU has the records to prove it.
Unfortunately, the Sentinel is using Dr. Shaffer, an elderly man, as a pawn in their disreputable attempt to smear me and the people I have worked with through the years.
CCU has done excellent work providing high quality Christian education options. As we know, the Left is troubled by anything that threatens their institutions—and secular, liberal colleges are their sacred realm of influence and control.
It is clear that my chief political opponent in this election is the Orlando Sentinel. In that case, I am fully confident of our re-election success, because truth is on our side.
