Rapper Azealia Banks feels ‘safer’ in Florida and Thinks DeSantis is the Man

Rapper Azealia Banks offered a glowing endorsement of Ron DeSantis in a recent interview. The 31-year-old moved to Miami in 2021 and says she feels “way safer” in Florida than she ever did in California, where she felt she needed a gun to protect herself. Banks credited her newfound peace of mind to Ron DeSantis’s leadership and accused the mainstream media of concocting a false narrative about Florida.

“He’s focused on the basic s–t,” Banks said in an interview with The Guardian last week.

“There are elderly people in our country without walkers, who don’t have the money to get a septic tooth pulled. If we’re talking about divvying up healthcare funds, those situations should take precedence to facial feminisation surgeries and stuff like that. I mean, I get it – but that’s a cosmetic surgery. Like, does your penis work? Can you pee? You’re not as in trouble as the older woman who can’t afford her dialysis. I think DeSantis is practical about a lot of things.”

Banks said that her time in Los Angeles left her feeling isolated. She became depressed during the COVID lockdowns and said the city’s overbearing liberal politics disillusioned her.

“Every which way I turn there’s a Black Lives Matter sign, and then we’re watching swathes of Latino people die every day because they’re considered essential workers… There are no Latino Lives Matter signs.”

She then added,

“Here’s Jenny with her f—in’ like biodynamic wine bar and her vegan cafe. She’s got a Black Lives Matter sign in the window, but sis, did you pay attention to papi who delivered the milk? Did he get a free cup of coffee? I had to go because I can’t do this – either Covid was gonna kill me, or depression. I’m going to fucking Miami.”

Banks said she found herself at home in Miami and appreciated that her new neighbors “mind their f–kin’ business.”

The rapper also drew a sharp contrast between DeSantis and her former associate Kanye West, who has been in hot water recently after openly praising Hitler and the Nazis. She referred to West as “an abusive a—hole” and said, “You are the last person we need to hear from about Black fatherhood and the Black family unit.”
