Pro-Abort Prof. Fired-Threatens Reporter With Machete – ‘I’m Gonna Chop You Up!’

The crazed New York City professor filmed wrecking a pro-life display earlier this month has now been fired after threatening a reporter with a machete. Shellyne Rodriguez was an art professor at Hunter College who went viral after berating a group of students for protesting against abortion, cursing at them and accusing them of “triggering” her students. When a New York Post journalist knocked on the door to her Bronx apartment Tuesday morning, Rodriguez was caught on video drawing a machete, holding it to the man’s neck, and threatening to “chop” him up. When the reporter tried to leave, she followed him down the street, still wielding the blade.

“Get the f–k away from my door, or I’m gonna chop you up with this machete!” Rodriguez shouted after Post reporter Reuven Fenton knocked on her apartment door. The art professor had made headlines just one day prior over her outburst surrounding the pro-life display.

Just after Fenton introduced himself, Rodriguez burst through the door holding a machete and placed it to his neck.

“Get the f–k away from my door! Get the f–k away from my door!”

After noticing the camera, the professor withdrew back into her apartment and slammed the door but soon re-emerged after Fenton and his cameraman tried to leave. As they walked down the street, Rodriguez continued to shout at them, still holding the machete in her hand.

“If I see you on this block one more f–king time, you’re gonna… Get the f–k off the block! Get the f–k out of here, yo!”

According to the report by the Post, Rodriguez continued to follow the photographer to his car, at one point stopping to kick the reporter’s shins before retreating into her apartment building.

Just hours after the violent incident, Hunter College said that Rodriguez had been fired.

“Hunter College strongly condemns the unacceptable actions of Shellyne Rodriguez and has taken immediate action… Rodriguez has been relieved of her duties at Hunter College effective immediately, and will not be returning to teach at the school.”

On Tuesday, it also emerged that Rodriguez is embroiled in a lawsuit against NYPD, alleging that officers abused her when she was arrested during a June 2020 George Floyd protest. Rodriguez claims to have suffered nerve damage from being zip-tied and hauled into a prisoner van with 14 other protesters. The lawsuit said her injuries impacted “her ability to make art.”

In addition to her activism, Rodriguez specializes in colored pencil portraiture, which she says is influenced by “Black Radical tradition” and sometimes includes references to Karl Marx.

Footage of her from May 2 went viral this week after she raged at a group of pro-life students on her campus who were tabling. “You’re not educating s–t. This is f–king propaganda,” Rodriguez said in the now-infamous video, where she can be seen flinging pamphlets and wrecking the display. “This is bullshit, this is violent. You’re triggering my students.”
