PETA Gets Roasted After Anti-Meat Tweet

The organization People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, better known as PETA, was roasted into oblivion after their vegan tweet had many rolling their eyes.

It all started when PETA posted a tweet claiming that eating animals is the same thing as ‘supremacy’ without the tweet explaining which type of supremacy.

Supremacy is at the root of why people think it’s okay to eat other animals. – @peta on Twitter

Many users immediately decided to challenge this sentiment by PETA, with one user asking about their opinion on animals eating other animals. This was done while they were being mocked as well.

PETA then decided to reply to this Tweet, explaining that since these animals could not survive if they did not kill other animals, humans can survive without eating meat.

Most of the animals who kill for food could not survive if they didn’t. That is not the case for us. Humans are capable of making choices based on ethics and are responsible for making the most ethical choices possible and doing our best to reduce suffering of any kind. – @peta on Twitter.

Many users immediately took note of the logic of this claim, with the users dissecting it and tearing the claim apart. One user explained how humans have been eating animals for thousands of years.

This is not true, we evolved by eating meat and fish and fruit, it is only recently that we started eating floury foods and foods given by agriculture, so it is not true that we would live well avoiding eating animals, we would live a sad life and we would get sick all the time, as happens to vegans and vegetarians – @elliot0511 on Twitter.

Other users replied with mockery, with one user saying how much they love to eat the ‘tasty, tasty critters.’

And my choice, is to eat those tasty tasty critters. – @StrawStephen on Twitter.

One user went as far as to reply to PETA’s response tweet with a picture of ribs being cooked on the grill, with the user saying how they are smoking baby back ribs and that the ribs are considered a ‘Father’s Day meal.’

Even with their attempt at a defense, it was still impossible for PETA to come on top in any interaction. Many replies to the tweet used evidence from Christianity as proof that we should not go completely vegan for a lifetime.

One user quoted Genesis 9:3, which mentions how everything that lives ‘shall be meat for you.’

“Every moving thing that liveth shall be meat for you; even as the green herb have I given you all things.”- Genesis 9:3 – @Thoughtcrime03 on Twitter

Another user called meat eating’ God’s instruction to man.’

And? So? Therefore? Hence? It is God’s instruction to man. “And have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.” – @shoveitjack on Twitter

It is unclear if PETA has made any additional clarifications about their tweet or if they will admit any faults in their attempt to correlate supremacy to meat eating.
