Passidomo, Renner Endorse DeSantis for President – ‘Exactly the Kind of Leader We Need’
Florida Senate President Kathleen Pasidomo and House Speaker Paul Renner are supporting Governor Ron DeSantis for President.
The two Florida Republicans offered their endorsement Tuesday morning, following a bill signing ceremony with DeSantis in Broward County. Although the Governor has not yet announced a White House bid, the two legislative leaders say it is time for one. They cited the string of recent Republican victories in a pair of released statements.
“Gov. DeSantis has a proven record of delivering on the pro-family, pro-economic ideals that not only will keep Florida free but will be of critical importance in a 2024 presidential election,” Renner (R-Palm Coast) said in his endorsement.
“As Gov. DeSantis makes his final decision to run for higher office, it would be my honor to endorse his candidacy for President of the United States.”
Meanwhile, Passidomo (R-Naples) credited DeSantis for transforming the state into a “beacon of liberty,” calling him “exactly the kind of leader” needed in the White House,
“There is no greater vision for the future of our country than the ‘Florida Blueprint’ Governor DeSantis spearheaded over the last several years… Under his leadership during the pandemic, the Free State of Florida became a beacon of liberty and opportunity like never before, as families and businesses flocked from high-tax, lockdown states in search of a better way of life.”
“Governor DeSantis is exactly the kind of leader we need for our country, and I look forward to supporting him for President,” she added.

While DeSantis has not yet entered the presidential race, momentum appears to be building toward an imminent announcement. On Monday, Press Secretary Bryan Griffin announced he was stepping down from his role in DeSantis’ gubernatorial office to instead take on a part in his campaign operation. In a statement, he called DeSantis “the only leader who can see us to victory at this critical moment in American history.”
“If I can be even a small part of the revival and restoration of our great nation, then I am prepared to give it my all.”
In the absence of an official declaration, the newly-launched pro-DeSantis PAC “Never Back Down” has taken up the mantle of campaigning for the Governor and fending off attacks from GOP frontrunner Donald Trump. Last week, the group added longtime Trump ally Steve Cortes to their roster. “Is a rematch of 2020 really the best America can do in a moment like this one?” Cortes wrote, announcing his move.
“I have worked as a dedicated spokesman and advocate for Donald Trump for much of the last seven years, so I do not arrive at that conclusion flippantly… heading into this crucial election, our activism and our votes must be guided by a clear-eyed assessment of recent failures and potential future successes.”

With Florida’s legislative session in the rearview mirror for nearly two weeks, a campaign announcement from DeSantis could very well be imminent.
