Palm Beach County Leaders React to Hamas Attack on Israel

The savage and cowardly attacks by Hamas against Israel shocked the world, and Palm Beach County leaders had a lot to say about it.

I’ve seen a lot of war footage in my life, and of course, it’s all horrible, but what Hamas did is disgusting. The dozens of videos I saw on Twitter made me sick. I understand what men must do to men in a war. I understand the concept of  ‘collateral damage” and the terrible necessity of it sometimes.

But to watch trained fighters go door to door and gun down men, women, and children in their homes is an atrocity, a war crime. What kind of men kill a young woman, tie her naked body to the back of a pickup truck, and ride around hitting and spitting on her corpse while they cheer?

What kind of animals kidnap babies?

Only evil men do these things, and men that evil must be hunted down and eliminated.

Here’s what some of our leaders in Palm Beach County had to say.

As usual, Palm Beach County Sheriff Ric Bradshaw is on the ball. Ric doesn’t play.

The Sheriff’s Office is monitoring the situation in Israel and has deployed additional assets to Jewish institutions in the event there are any attempted actions here in Palm Beach County. ~Sheriff Ric Bradshaw

Mike CarusoThis act of war by Hamas against Israel is a display of antisemitism on a grand scale. These vicious acts of terror against Israel and her people are unforgivable. Israel has every right as a sovereign nation to defend itself against its enemies and strike back with overwhelming force. All of America must stand in solidarity with Israel. Those who don’t are as bad as those committing these crimes against humanity.

~State Rep. Mike Caruso, R-West Palm Beach

Palm Beach County State Attorney Dave Aronberg tweeted:

In a text to FloridaJolt Aronberg also said:

Israel unilaterally withdrew from Gaza 18 years ago and, in return, has received a continuous barrage of missile attacks and attempted incursions This is an entirely new level of escalation and will result in the destruction of Hamas leadership. The world needs to stand with Israel now and remain with Israel in its upcoming military response against terrorist targets.

~Palm Beach County  State Attorney Dave Aronberg

My heart goes out to the people in Israel. I hope everyone will join me in praying for them.

~Sara Baxter, Palm Beach County Commissioner, District 6.

Andre Fladell

In Judaism and Christianity, we are taught that killing people is not a path to heaven. Israel and the Western world, at some point must realize that we are in an unending conflict with a group that believes killing non-believers is a God-driven righteous Act and guarantees them a place in heaven. Today’s attack like 9/11 is part of their ongoing Jihad to eliminate and execute anyone who does not believe as they do

~ Dr. Andre Fladell

I firmly believe that Israel has an undeniable right to defend itself against this unprovoked and unwarranted attack. We must make sure that our support is unwavering. This is a direct result of the weak and ineffective policies plaguing the progressive leadership of our country. I extend my condolences to the families of those who are affected and have lost their lives in this abhorrent attack on civilians. I stand with Israel.

~Republican Candidate for State House District 90 Bill Reicherter

The deadly and evil Hamas attack on Israel is an offense against all sovereign states, Jews, Christians, and Muslims alike. It is inexcusable. We are in a fight between good and evil. ~Candidate for Boca Raton City Council Brian Stenberg

I’m horrified by these unprovoked attacks on Israel and deeply saddened by the incredible loss of life by these attacks. I can only pray that Israel can use its defense resources to hopefully put a quick end to these terrible hostilities.

~Marc Wigder, Boca Raton City Council, Seat B

This cowardly and hostile attack upon Israel must be condemned by the United States government and the world community. Israel has a right to defend itself and its borders by neutralizing Hamas and restoring peace in the region.

~Michael Barnett, Palm Beach County Commissioner, District 3.

Hamas needs to be condemned by the international community for escalating the violence and killing and injuring innocent people. Israel has the right to defend its people from attack. The recent attacks by Hamas on Israel are a serious escalation of the conflict. I hope that the international community will be able to play a role in helping to resolve the conflict peacefully. The Israeli and Palestinian people deserve to live in peace and security.

~Palm Beach County Distrct 2 Mayor and County Commissioner Greg Weiss

The unprovoked sneak attack on Israel’s civilian population by Hamas terrorists, killing hundreds, is but another despicable example of their cowardice coming, as it did, during the holiday celebration of Simchat Torah. Israel’s security and sovereignty have, again, been put in jeopardy by bloodthirsty terrorists. Israel’s full might must be unleashed to eliminate this existential threat to its existence. Overwhelming force is the only action Israel’s enemies understand.

~Former Palm Beach County Commissioner, Republican Robert Weinroth

Florida Democratic U.S. Rep. Jared Moskowitz struck the right tone. He anticipated the inevitable “Israel should act with restraint” chorus, which will come almost entirely from Democrats, but even though he got it right, I couldn’t help trolling him.

Some of the more radical minor-league Democrats, like State Sen. Tina Polsky, D-Boca Raton, still don’t get it. Polsky seems to think because Iran says it’s going to use the six billion dollars of frozen assets, Biden just sent them for humanitarian purposes, that’s what’s going to happen or that once Iran knows it has money in one pocket, it can spend money in it’s other pocket to help Hamas and Hezbollah.

It’s a good thing there are people like HD 33 Rep. Randy Fine, R-Brevard, around to set the record straight. Gee, wouldn’t it be great if we had a straight shooter like Fine here in Boca Raton as, say, the President of FAU? Fine gets it, Polsky does not.

I’m not a forgive-and-forget type myself. I’ll say a few Novenas for penance.

This is a very sad day for Jews and Arabs alike who want to live their lives in peace. These ruthless terrorists have no regard for human life. The murder of innocent men, women, and children cannot and should not go unanswered.

~Karen Brill, Palm Beach County School Board District 3

I stand with the Israeli people and condemn these outrageous acts of terrorism.

~Maria Marino, Palm Beach County Commissioner, District 1

The leadership of the West is weak, especially in America, and as the saying goes, “Weak men create hard times.”
