New York City Mayor Eric Adams Says City is “Destroyed’ by Migrants

New York City Mayor Eric Adams begged for federal aid from the Biden administration in response to a migrant crisis that has left the city in financial ruin, saying that the big apple has been “destroyed.”

“The city is being destroyed by the migrant crisis,” a visibly upset Eric Adams said.

Eric Adams ran on a strong-on-crime platform and promised a return to normalcy for New Yorkers. Instead, the Adams administration has implemented a series of pro-climate policies but no real mitigation of the continuously declining state of the city.

Adams has consistently blamed President Biden’s nearly open-borders policy, with the New York Post reporting that more than 55,000 migrants have moved to New York in the last year and almost 62 percent requiring taxpayer-funded emergency housing.

“This is in the lap of the president of the United States! The president of the United States can give us the ability to allow people to work. This is in the lap of the executive branch of the United States of America.” ~ Mayor Adams

Adams continued his rant, saying that the migrants would work if possible but are prevented by Biden policies – ultimately forcing the city to prop up their lives on the taxpayer dime.

“Over 50,000 people come to the city of New York seeking assistance and we are told, ‘You will not allow them to work, you have to … give them food, clothing if they need, give them the basic services that they need, you’re supposed to make sure they have three meals a day, make sure that all the children are educated — and while you’re doing that, New York City, we’re not going to give you anything in return.”

“The national government has turned its back on New York City,” Adams said, “every service in this city is going to be impacted by the asylum seeker crisis.”

The Big Apple has shouldered much of the cost of unemployed migrants, paying up to 380 dollars per person – times the 55,000 who have come – to provide food, water, housing, and other necessities. The city has been lobbying for all possible support from FEMA, the New York State Legislature, and the White House, with no aid yet exceeding the immense cost the migrants bring.

It is speculated that next month’s expiration of Title 42 – the Trump-era policy allowing the expulsion of migrants for public health purposes – will be the final nail in the city’s coffin. Despite initially not requiring significant budget cuts, Mayor Adams recently ordered several city departments to slash more than four billion dollars from their budgets – a move that is likely to see many hard-working Americans laid off to pay for the migrants.

Adams has implied that Biden’s open-borders policies are the greatest impediments to a “total revamp” of New York, which he promised during campaign season.

“If you removed the $4.2 billion dollars that have been dropped into my city because of a mismanaged asylum seeker issue, you would have probably witnessed one of the greatest fiscal turnarounds in the history of New York City.”
