New Jersey Judge Accused of Making Sexual, Misogynistic TikTok Videos
A New Jersey Superior Court Judge is accused of producing dozens of inappropriate TikTok videos containing vulgar language, sexual content, and racist and misogynistic lyrics, according to a formal complaint filed last week. Judge Gary Wilcox is reported to have produced the videos from April 2021 to March 2023 for a public TikTok account under the alias “Sal Tortorella.” The complaint was filed by the Advisory Committee on Judicial Conduct.
According to the June 30 complaint, Wilcox produced forty videos on the bench, including eleven with inappropriate content. The complaint alleges several videos showed the judge partially undressed or in bed, while others were recorded in the courthouse or his private chambers. The complaint also alleges “references to violence, sex, and misogyny,” mainly in the form of song lyrics accompanying the video.
The Committee’s complaint states that Wilcox’s actions were “inappropriate and brought disrepute to the Judiciary.”
“Respondent recorded several TikTok videos in his chambers, including songs which contained profanity, graphic sexual references to female and male body parts, and/or racist terms.”
Wilcox is a Harvard Law School Graduate who served as an Assistant U.S. Attorney after being nominated by Governor Chris Christie in 2011. He is also a former Democratic candidate for councilman in Harrington Park, New Jersey.

According to a report by the New Jersey Globe, one of the videos published by Wilcox shows him smiling at the camera with the caption “When an ex-girlfriend calls you ‘Santa’ because of your new white beard,” while the lyrics of Touch It by Busta Rhymes plays in the background.
“For the record, just a second, I’m freakin’ it out. While she tryin’ to touch, see, I was peepin’ it out. She turned around and was tryin’ to put my d**k in her mouth. I let her.” ~ Touch It
Another video reportedly shows Wilcox wearing a ‘Freedom of Speech’ t-shirt in his car, lip-syncing the lyrics “Go ahead, baby. You hittin’ them corners too god damn fast. You gotta slow this motha****a down. You understand? I almost spilled my [Cognac] on this 200-dollar suit.”
He is also seen lip-syncing the lyrics from Jump by Rihanna,
“If you want it let’s do it. Ride it, my pony. My saddle is waitin’, come and jump on it. If you want it, let’s do it.” ~ Jump
Wilcox is accused in the complaint of violating three judicial canons, including one that “requires judges to observe high standards of conduct so that the integrity and independence of the Judiciary may be preserved” and another that “requires judges to avoid impropriety and the appearance of impropriety and to act at all times in a manner that promotes public confidence in the integrity and impartiality of the Judiciary.
The Superior Court Judge is also accused of violating a third canon that “requires judges to conduct their extrajudicial activities in a manner that would not cast reasonable doubt on the judge’s capacity to act impartially as a judge, demean the judicial office, or interfere with the proper performance of judicial duties.”
