The Chisago County Sheriff’s Office went to post this on social media and had this to say on its Facebook page about the humorous encounter the deputy had at the traffic stop Friday night.

Get Out of Jail Free Card

“Last night, a deputy did a traffic stop, and the driver handed him this card, along with his driver’s license,” the sheriff’s office said. “Unfortunately, the state of Minnesota does not recognize this as a valid document.”

The post has since gone viral with over 2,000 reactions, 400 shares, and over 100 comments on Facebook.

I wonder how long they have been holding on to this card. I don’t think they are that color anymore,” one reply read.

One person posted a photo of his laminated get-out-of-jail-free card he keeps in his wallet, stating, But mine has been in my wallet for years and is laminated, so it is official, right??

I would laugh if they had a wallet full of monopoly money to pay for their fines, lol,” said another.

The sheriff’s office did not say why the deputy pulled the driver over or if the driver got a ticket but said he got “points for the effort and humor.”
