Colon who is a 17 year member of Miami-Dade Police assigned to the Homeland Security section and Sanchez had a 7-year relationship and police were called about a year ago in September 2021 reference a domestic dispute between the two. According to the police report, the dispute was over childcare and during the argument, Sanchez threw a “Ceramic Object” at Colon.

Colon left to avoid any further problems. Sanchez called and asked him to come back, which he did. When he arrived, Sanchez had her service weapon pointed at her head. Colon was able to take it away from her. She then scratched him and when he said he was leaving, she picked up a knife and again threatened to hurt herself. Apparently, the case was dropped for unknown reasons.

As a result of that case, Sanchez resigned from the Dade County schools police department before she was fired.

Investigators say they have video evidence that Sanchez is the shooter. Miami-Dade Police said Sanchez used a GPS to track Colon to a home in the 1200 block of West 79th Street in Hialeah. Colon was sitting in his pickup truck when Sanchez pulled up and blocked Colon’s vehicle in. Colon got out of his vehicle and started walking towards the front porch with Sanchez walking behind him when Sanchez pulled out her gun and shot him once in the back of the head before taking off in her truck.

A short distance later, Sanchez crashed into another car while trying to make a getaway. She then took off on foot before being captured by Hialeah Police, which is the agency that is investigating the shooting. Sanchez later confessed to the shooting and told them she did in fact track Colon using a GPS.

Sanchez was transported to the Dade County Jail where she’s being held without bond and charged with attempted first-degree murder with a deadly weapon, aggravated stalking and leaving the scene of an accident.
