Tampa Police say Killins pulled a gun and demanded cash, and when she did not have the money, he forced her back into her car at gunpoint. At the same, the woman was wearing Air Pods and had her girlfriend on the line. The victim’s girlfriend quickly realized what was happening and called the police.

Killins forced the woman to drive to Belara Lakes Apartments, where he raped her. The woman’s family, who had been tracking her phone, arrived at the apartment complex and rescued her from the car.

Killins fired his gun multiple times at the woman’s family, with one shot striking a family member of the victim’s girlfriend before fleeing.

Both victims were transported to a nearby hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The next day, police received a report that a man at the apartment complex matching the description of the suspect wanted in the kidnapping and rape threw a woman in her early 40s to the ground, punched her in the face, and stole her backpack.

Surveillance footage showed Killins at the scene, and authorities said he was last seen running toward the Haven Waters Edge Apartment complex. The woman was treated for non-life-threatening injuries, including lacerations and bruising on her face.

Tampa Police Investigators eventually located Killins at a Tampa hotel on Friday night and took him into custody.

A search of Killins’ property found that he had items connecting him to the ‘heinous’ kidnapping and rape, and he later ‘disclosed details specific to the rape when questioned by police.

“This criminal is now off the streets thanks to the tireless efforts of every Tampa Police Department employee and the assistance provided by members of our community,” said Interim Chief Lee Bercaw.

“My thoughts remain with the victims. I hope this arrest brings them a sense of comfort knowing that he will now face justice for the crimes he chose to commit.”

Killins is currently facing charges of armed kidnapping, robbery with a firearm, armed sexual battery, and aggravated battery with a weapon from events from April 18, as well as another robbery charge from April 19.

He is currently being held without bond at the Hillsborough County Jail.
