Louisiana Woman Maria Angelica Reeves, 24, of Ragley, was arrested by the Westlake Police Department on March 16 on three counts of child cruelty.
The Westlake Police Department reported on March 27, 2023, that on March 10, 2023, they were alerted of suspected child abuse at a local daycare. According to officials, a further inquiry revealed that an employee, Reeves, had allegedly abused a child in her care.

On Monday, March 13, 2023, Detective Wright issued a search warrant for the local daycare and an arrest warrant for one count of Cruelty to a Juvenile on the suspect Maria A Reeves of Ragley, Louisiana.
Detective Wright issued a second arrest warrant for two counts of Cruelty to a Juvenile on Reeves on Thursday, March 16, 2023.
Reeves was booked into the Calcasieu Parish correctional center, and her bond was set at $195,000, which she paid that day.
Detective Wright is the lead investigator, and Sr. Corporal Stringer and Officers Lognion and Quebodeaux assist him.

Reeves was arrested for the second time this month, accused of abusing several children at two daycares in Westlake.
As the investigation continued, Westlake police found evidence that Reeves had abused more children at two daycare centers.
Reeves was arrested again on March 29 by the Jefferson Davis Parish Sheriff’s Office on two additional counts of child cruelty and one count of second-degree child cruelty. She was transferred to Calcasieu Parish correctional center the next day.
Authorities indicated that the investigation is still ongoing, and other arrests may be made at a later date.
Her bond was set at $210,000 for the second arrest.

An employee of Kidcare Early Learning Academy, located at 2418 Westwood Rd, Westlake, LA, confirmed that Reeves had worked there until the week before her first arrest.
