Letter to the Editor: Equal Consideration for Private Jets Not a Must
Dear Florida Jolt Editor,
Recently, watching numerous jet liners as they approach for landing at our local airport, I was contemplating about all the commercial airlines that are transporting hundreds of thousands of visitors to our fair state. Surely, these airline companies must be competing for room in the skies with private flights and space launches, especially with an uptake in private jet travel coupled with a renewed focus on the space economy. This is an issue that will not be going away anytime soon and potentially will disrupt countless travel plans as our state continues to recover from the COVID-19 pandemic and the associated drag it has put on our regional economy.
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), NASA, and other federal entities must closely examine this situation and thoughtfully consider improving a system that gives equal weight to the private jets carrying a few travelers and the major airlines carrying hundreds of passengers. Currently, Florida travel is experiencing a boom – let’s not hamstring this abundance with preventable flight disruptions and delays which will cause potential travelers to look elsewhere when organizing their next trip.
