Left Wing Dark Money Group Scams Hurricane Ian Recovery Donors

Democrat group Florida Rising began fundraising after Hurricane Ian, claiming the funds were going to charity. In reality, it was given to a dark money political C(4), posing as a charity.

Florida Rising Tweeted the fundraising link on September 29th, just a day after Hurricane Ian landed. The tweet claimed that the groups the funds would be going to are the same ones that assisted in the aftermath of Hurricane Irma and assured readers that the funds would help “prepare for the rebuilding and recovery.”

However, the link provided, ianresponse.org, is housed by the tech platform ActBlue, according to a report by the Florida Republican Senatorial Campaign Committee (FRSCC). ActBlue describes itself as a platform that “is available to Democratic candidates and committees, progressive organizations, and nonprofits that share our values…”

But that’s not all; not only is the website hosted by a left-wing platform, but it also isn’t even registered as a charity.
The response fund is registered as a dark money organization, according to the FRSCC Report.

“Read a little further into the fine print and you’ll find that the Florida Ian Response Fund is “not tax deductible” and that it is actually housed at “Organize Action,” a 501(c)4 tax exempt dark money organization.”

Florida Rising has endorsed Democrat candidates like Charlie Crist and Val Demings, but they have also gone further and helped sponsor attack ads. DeSantis War Room tweeted about the troubling implications of the discovery.

The report ends with a recommendation to those interested in donating.

“As Floridians continue to rebuild and recover, we strongly urge those who want to help to give to reputable organizations positioned to help people, not political organizations using this money “to win elections and change laws.”
