Left Uses Death of Freedom Loving Attorney on Motorcycle to Score Cheap Political Points

A Florida attorney and his wife were on a motorcycle in August and suffered a fatal crash. The motorcyclist lost control of his bike, crashing into the back of a trailer attached to a truck.

Friends and family of the motorcyclists, 66-year-old Ron Smith and his girlfriend Brenda Jeanan Volpe, aged 62, were heartbroken over their passing.

An obituary for Volpe described her as a ‘devoted loving mom’ and a ‘beautiful person.’

” She was a Christian woman by faith. She was a hard worker and would go out of her way to help others. She was a devoted loving mom, grandma, daughter, sister, aunt, niece, and friend. She was a truly beautiful person and will be missed very much”  Her obituary said.

Friends of Smith described him as someone who was devoted to his ideals.

“He thought everybody should have their own choice,” said Dave Newman, who was a member of the American Legion Riders with Smith.

Liberals on Twitter did not have kind words for Smith because he advocated for repealing laws requiring helmets for motorcycle drivers.

Ron Smith was a member of the American Bikers Aimed Toward Education.

He played a leading role in lobbying the Florida government to repeal its law requiring motorcycle drivers to wear a helmet by representing clients who were cited for not wearing a helmet.

As a result, liberals could not resist hand-wringing over his death after it was reported by the Tampa Bay Times.

Another user mocked him for advocating for “Freedumb”.

While medical experts who evaluated his death admitted that it was ‘impossible’ to know if a helmet would have prevented his death, liberals took the opportunity to call it ‘karma’.

The Tampa Bay Times reported that it was “Impossible to say whether a helmet would have prevented Smith’s and Volpe’s deaths, experts said. Smith’s autopsy report lists blunt head trauma as his cause of death, and an initial report from the Hillsborough Medical Examiner’s Office also lists Volpe’s cause of death as head trauma.”

Another motorcycle safety researcher said that they could ‘not say for sure’ if he and his girlfriend would have survived the crash.

“It’s entirely possible that if they were wearing a helmet they might have survived, but … we can’t say for sure,” Eric Teoh, a motorcycle safety researcher at the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, told the Times.

Still, another Twitter user took it a step further and took a victory lap, comparing their deaths to the deaths of unvaccinated people who died as a result of Covid-19.

While there are many uncertainties in politics, you can always count on Democratic partisans to exploit a tragedy for their own gain.
