Karine Jean-Pierre Caught in LIE Defending Biden’s Record on Immigration

White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre got called out recently after claiming that President Joe Biden is responsible for a 90% reduction in illegal immigration.

“When it comes to illegal migration, you have seen it come down by more than 90%, and that’s because of the actions that this president has taken.” Biden’s press secretary said.

Unfortunately, this is not true. Fox News correspondent Bill Melugin made that clear with his retweet of Jean-Pierre’s claim and a fact debunking it.

“There was a window of time earlier this year where encounters with Venezuelans, Nicaraguans, and Cubans did temporarily dip 90% after a policy change, but other countries, like China, shot up over 800%. Illegal crossings, including Venezuelans, back at peak highs now. It is remarkable that the White House would attempt to make this false claim on the same day the US Border Patrol Chief reported over 22,000 apprehensions at the border in 72 hours, not counting gotaways.”

Even Twitter’s community notes feature, a decentralized, user-based method of fact-checking, exposed Jean-Pierre for twisting the truth.

“The number of migrants crossing the US southern border has hit a 20 year record high. U.S. border officials recorded 25% jump in migrant crossings in March.”CBS News backed this up. An April article noted that while the country is already experiencing historic highs in illegal immigration under Joe Biden, it’s bound to get even worse with the reduction in COVID-19 restrictions.

“Still, unlawful migration to the U.S. southern border continues to be at historically high levels, and concerns of a broader influx of illegal crossings have intensified as U.S. officials prepare to discontinue a rule known as Title 42 that has allowed them to summarily expel hundreds of thousands of migrants during the coronavirus pandemic.Absent any major policy pivot, the Department of Homeland Security is preparing for up to 13,000 migrants to cross the southern border per day, about 400,000 each month, once Title 42 lifts in early May, according to internal projections. The Trump-era order is set to lapse once the national COVID-19 public health emergency expires on May 11.”

Observers on Twitter were not happy with Jean-Pierre’s spinning of the issue, ridiculing her for the move.

Florida Senator Rick Scott also weighed in, urging the Biden administration to stop lying about how the problem doesn’t exist and instead fix it.

“The Biden Administration should fix the border crisis they created instead of lying about it. I have a plan to finish the wall and restore law and order at our Southern Border.”

In his “Rescue America” Plan, Scott agrees with Trump’s idea to build a wall. However, his plan also includes stripping funding from “sanctuary cities,” employing a military presence on the border when necessary, reducing welfare incentives to immigrate, and making welfare unavailable to migrants in their first seven years.
