Judge Tanya Chutkan, an Obama Appointee with a history of sentencing J6 protestors to brutal sentences, issued a limited gag order for President Trump in his Federal J6 case.
Trump cannot talk about Special Counsel Jack Smith, prosecutors, witnesses, or court staff, nor can he comment on Mke Pence’s role in events of the case although Trump can criticize Pence in his role as a rival candidate for the Republican nomination for President.
According to the NY Times:
Judge Chutkan imposed the gag order at the end of a two-hour hearing in Federal District Court in Washington in what became one of the most contentious public proceedings so far in any of the criminal cases Mr. Trump is facing.
Gag orders limiting what trial participants can say outside of court are not uncommon. But Mr. Trump’s status as the front-runner for the Republican presidential nomination, and his decision to portray the gag order request as part of an effort by the Biden administration to stifle a political rival, made this request by prosecutors especially complex.
Many Trump supporters reacted with fury at the order, which many consider election interference, and Trump himself has made that argument to no avail.
Simon Ateba tweeted:
“Mr. Trump may still vigorously seek public support as a presidential candidate, debate policies and people related to that candidacy, criticize the current administration and assert his belief that this prosecution is politically motivated,” Judge Chutkan said. “But those critical first amendment freedoms do not allow him to launch a pre-trial smear campaign against participating government staff, their families and foreseeable witnesses.”~Judge Chutkan

While some may understand the need for a gag order when it pertains to witnesses, gagging a defendant from talking about prosecutors, especially a leading Presidential candidate, seems completely over the top, but Chutkan has not been a friend to Republicans or their issues.
Chutkan has issued draconian sentences in the J6 trials as the Associated Press notes:
Chutkan, a former assistant public defender who was nominated to the bench by President Barack Obama, has consistently taken the hardest line against Jan. 6 defendants of any judge serving on Washington’s federal trial court, which is handling the more than 800 cases brought so far in the largest prosecution in Justice Department history.
Many Trump supporters and free speech libertarians were incensed by the gag order.

It’s a damn shame Special prosecutor Jack Smith bitching about Trump telling the truth about him, goes and complains to the judge and gets a gag order on Trump. Since Trump can’t talk about that low down and dirty Jack Smith is, let’s all of us do it!

The Trump camp announced that he would appeal the gag order issued by Judge Chutkan.
