Teasley was arrested shortly after the murder of Heike, and it was discovered he lived close to the hiking trail where Heike’s body was found with 15 stab wounds after a ‘Heinous attack.’

Investigators are releasing more information about Teasley and his state of mind at the time of the murder. When investigators showed him a picture of Heike’s body, Teasley stated he “wanted to look like her.”

Teasley also spoke about being raised as a Christian as well as struggling with his sexuality.

When asked if he planned on killing Heike, he stated, “Im definitely not the person who plans to kill another person. If I were going to do that, it wouldn’t be premeditated.”

Prosecutors disagree with that, claiming that Teasley bought plane tickets to Detroit after the murder in an attempt to escape the area.

Teasley also has a criminal record and spent 16 months in prison for disorderly conduct and armed robbery. He had 10 of 13 felony charges dropped by the prosecutor in exchange for a guilty plea on the others.

He’s been out of jail since November 2022 and was considered a medium-low risk upon release.

Prosecutors have the evidence to put him in prison and have crime scene, forensic, DNA, as well as cell phone data.

Teasley’s LinkedIn account is still up, and he uses “They/Them” pronouns. It describes him as a U.S. Marine who was medically discharged.
