Valentine’s Day seems to put a lot of pressure on men. Women never forget. Here are ideas for gift giving, and if you do this right, you may get a little something, wink, in return.

The typical Valentine’s gift trifecta is roses, chocolates, and a card. It’s typical. It’s expected. The roses have to be red, pink, or both. The chocolate must come in a heart-shaped box. The card should be mushy. The good news is that you can go into any CVS or supermarket and get all of these things, even at the last moment. It’s sure to make anyone smile.

Typical, but loved Valentine’s gifts. Red and pink roses, a red teddy bear, chocolates in a heart-shaped box, and a mushy card.

Some say that roses are a cliche. There’s a reason it is such a popular gift. Roses are a symbol of romantic love and beauty. Who wouldn’t love to receive twenty-four long-stemmed roses or just one gorgeous blossom? If you completely forgot about the holiday, your best bet is to go to a store now and buy roses. Just understand that they will cost at least double on Valentine’s Day because this is the most popular day of the year to buy them. That’s the price you must pay for forgetting your loved one.

Always stunning roses are a perfect gift. Just know that they will be twice as expensive on Valentine’s Day.

A romantic idea for those who want to go all out is to plant a rose garden for your Valentine. Instead of one day of roses, forever roses every time they bloom. For more about roses, check out Something Stinks But it’s Not Roses. Roses No Longer Smell

A ‘Don Juan Climbing Rose’ from Lisa Furnari’s rose garden. You can plant your rose garden for a bit of romance all year long. Just be sure to plant a variety that works in your climate zone.

Another popular gift is a stuffed teddy bear. Everyone smiles when they get this gift. There’s a company called Vermont Teddy Bear Company that makes adorable Valentine’s Teddy Bears. My dad used to get them for me. One of them had a silver locket around its neck. Precious. My husband got me a huge teddy bear from them one year. It was about four feet high. I still have him. I named him Chunk. He’s a part of the family now. Many stores sell teddy bears as well. They even come in red for romance. So if you’re stuck for a last-minute gift, you can definitely find a teddy bear.

Everyone loves a soft, cuddly teddy bear, and you could get hugged and squeezed for giving this thoughtful gift.

Many restaurants have special dinners for Valentine’s Day. A beautiful night out is always a fantastic idea, and after your romantic dinner, share a strawberry shortcake. As of last year, strawberry shortcake is now the official Florida state dessert. Enjoy.

For those who want to go all out, the answer is jewelry. Word to the wise, do not gift a ring unless you’re planning on proposing—any other jewelry works. An excellent choice in keeping with the theme is a heart locket.

Jewelry is always a great gift. Heart lockets are romantic for Valentine’s Day. They come in all sizes and price points. These gold lockets are from Nina Haydock Jewelry and can be purchased on Etsy.

Just remember that at the end of the day, it’s the thought that counts. The most memorable gift anyone can receive from you is just saying, “Happy Valentine’s Day. I love you.”
