Gun Hidden in Quesadilla Leads to Drug Arrest in Picayune

Devin P. Mitchell of Picayune, Mississippi, took concealed carry to a whole new level, according to police. He is now in the County jail; after police stopped the vehicle, he was in for a minor traffic violation.

A Picayune Police Department officer observed a traffic violation at around 12:38 p.m. and conducted a stop on East Canal Street which led to a surprising discovery for the officer.

During the traffic stop, the passenger, Devin P. Mitchell, attempted to conceal a handgun inside a folded quesadilla in a Taco Bell bag that Mitchell had. There was also a glass drug pipe inside the bag with the pistol.

When officers searched the vehicle, they discovered a distribution amount of methamphetamine, liquid heroin, and drug paraphernalia.

Mitchell was taken into custody and charged with the following offenses:

Possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute while in possession of a firearm, possession of a controlled substance, tampering with physical evidence, possession of a firearm by a felon, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

The vehicle’s driver, Olivia Neff, was only cited for disregarding a traffic control device and was released at the scene.

Picayune Police wrote in a Facebook post #Tacoaboutnotcool about the arrest.

Picayune is about 50 miles northeast of New Orleans, Louisiana.
