As RedState reported, a flight carrying a small number of illegal immigrants wound up in California recently, setting off a firestorm of accusations against the 2024 presidential candidate. The flight reportedly originated in New Mexico after the illegal immigrants were bussed in from El Paso, TX, one of the hottest Southern border areas for crossings.

Newsom immediately expressed his outrage, announcing a joint investigation with the California DOJ, claiming that DeSantis could face kidnapping charges.

“Ron DeSantis, you small, pathetic man,” Democratic Gov. Gavin Newsom tweeted Monday, which included a link to the California statute on abduction by force or fraud. “This isn’t Martha’s Vineyard,” he added, comparing it with the September incident.

According to the Los Angeles Times, “The 16 migrants from Venezuela and Colombia were initially transported by bus from El Paso to New Mexico, where they boarded the flight to Sacramento, officials said. They were dropped off at the doorstep of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Sacramento on Friday.”

California Attorney General Rob Bonta issued a statement on Saturday accusing the state of Florida of being behind the transfer of the migrants, who initially crossed the U.S. border in Texas.

“Today, I met with over a dozen migrants who were brought to Sacramento by private plane, with no prior arrangement or care in place,” said Attorney General Bonta. “We are investigating the circumstances by which these individuals were brought to California. We are also evaluating potential criminal or civil action against those who transported or arranged for the transport of these vulnerable immigrants. While this is still under investigation, we can confirm that these individuals were in possession of documentation purporting to be from the government of the State of Florida. While we continue to collect evidence, I want to say this very clearly: State-sanctioned kidnapping is not a public policy choice; it is immoral and disgusting. We are a nation built by immigrants, and we must condemn the cruelty and hateful rhetoric of those, whether they are state leaders or private parties, who refuse to recognize humanity and who turn their backs on extending dignity and care to fellow human beings. California and the Sacramento community will welcome these individuals with open arms and provide them with the respect, compassion, and care they will need after such a harrowing experience.”

Millions of migrants have crossed the border, and Texas, as well as Florida, have a policy of relocating some illegals to other states and cities, often “sanctuary cities” run by Democrats.

Last fall, DeSantis sent a planeload of migrants to Martha’s Vineyard, the offshore haven where the members of the Democratic Party elite have homes. The island, unable to accommodate the migrants despite the proliferation of political signs welcoming immigrants to the country, relocated the migrants to a shelter on a mainland military base within 24 hours.
