Fury at CUNY Law Grad’s ‘Hate-filled’ ‘Anti-Semitic’ Speech, Calls to Defund College
People across the political spectrum are calling for the defunding of a State-funded NYC public university after a speech made by a graduate speaking at the City University of New York’s law school commencement called for a ‘revolution’ to take on the legal system’s ‘white supremacy’ and ripped the ‘fascist’ NYPD, military and Israel.
The funding of the school, which is billions in tax dollars, could be in jeopardy after City University of New York’s law school’s newly minted graduate Fatima Mousa Mohammed, who her peers selected to deliver the speech, decried that a ‘revolution’ needs to take place against the legal system’s ‘white supremacy” while simultaneously blasting city cops and the US military and claiming Israel carries out ‘indiscriminate’ murder.
The speech in question went on about the following:
Like many of you, I chose CUNY School of Law for its articulated mission, ‘Law in the Service of Human Needs,’ one of very few legal institutions created to recognize that the law is a manifestation of white supremacy that continues to oppress and suppress people in this nation and around the world.
She then went on about how the school she is earning her degree from allegedly has ‘self-serving interests’ and ‘continues to fail us,’ all while continuing to ‘train and cooperate with the fascist NYPD, the military [and trains Israeli] soldiers to carry out that violence globally.’
Here in its entirety is the vitriolic, evil, antisemitic @CUNYLaw commencement address from Jew hater Fatima Mohammed. Unimaginably, it is even worse than last year's hate spewed by Nerdeen Kiswani. No wonder CUNY Law, under state investigation, tried to hide this video. pic.twitter.com/nKCe1Kx2sc

She also stated in her speech that the US legal system is a manifestation of white supremacy that continues to oppress and suppress people in this nation and around the world.’ She also tried to encourage her classmates to continue a ‘revolution’ that will effect change, using their rage as ‘the fuel for the fight against capitalism, racism, imperialism and Zionism around the world.’
After the backlash began on the commencement video, CUNY Law initially took down Mohammed’s speech from YouTube, but it was late reuploaded after critics in support of Mohammed criticized the school for silencing Mohammed.Â
Reactions to the statements of the speech were fierce, with many Democrats calling her comments ‘antisemitic’ and ‘crazed.’ Simcha Eichenstein, a Democratic state assemblyman representing Brooklyn, said the following:
This hate-filled and dangerous speech has been brought to you by @CUNY and paid for by New York taxpayers.
Keep this in mind next time our elected leaders highlight their commitment to fighting antisemitism.https://t.co/dwQwR4HdIH

Ritchie Torres, a Democrat Congressman that represents New York’s 15th congressional district which covers most of the South Bronx, said this in response to the speech:
Imagine being so crazed by hatred for Israel as a Jewish State that you make it the subject of your commencement speech at a law school graduation.

Councilman Ari Kagan, the councilman from NYC who recently left the Democratic Party and became a Republican, wrote a tweet addressing the speech, calling it a ‘vile anti-American & anti-Israel speech promoting hate.’
Vile anti-American & anti-Israel speech promoting hate.Totally unacceptable graduation speech for taxpayers funded institution. @CUNY & @CUNYLaw should immediately condemn this hateful speech & take all steps necessary to address such dangerous rhetoric! https://t.co/PYhuZXO2PU

CUNY’s 2023 budget totals up to about $ 4.3 billion, according to the office of city Comptroller Brad Lander, and most of that funding comes from the state through its annual budget, with more than $600 million coming from the city.
Many people called out that this individual was more of an activist than a lawyer.
Anti-American, Anti-Jew, Anti-White, Anti-Police & Anti-Law. Is that Degree even worth the paper it is written on? This isn’t a lawyer speaking at that podium, it’s an activist, a hateful & divisive one at that #TheFinestUnfiltered

Others called out the school’s funding, calling for the school system to go through defunding.
.@RitchieTorres is spot on here. This hater can spout her hate where she pleases but it should not be at the publicly funded @CUNY school of law. Her antisemitism destroyed this commencement and it must be roundly condemned and should not have been sanctioned with public funds. https://t.co/Hvtrzubcum

Councilwoman Inna Vernikov, a Brooklyn Republican, said the grad’s speech was a grave sign of what the future of law in the city might look like.
If anyone had doubts on what’s going on at @CUNY, and if hearing we held did not convince you, here it is: Vile, unabashed hatred for America, Israel, NYPD, & democracy. I can’t imagine sitting in the audience as a graduate. These are NYC’s future lawyers. @CUNY any comment? https://t.co/YkdgJdfp1n
