Ford Reintroduces ‘Very Gay Raptor’ For Gay Pride Month, Mocked Unmercifully
Ford Motor Company is the latest brand causing a backlash online by embracing the upcoming LGBT+ pride month.
The company released a campaign through Ford Europe that shows a Ford Raptor decorated in LGBT rainbow colors and gold sparkles, speeding past its competition, with ‘#verygayraptor ‘written on the windshield.

“Very Gay Raptor” was born in response to a negative comment on social media, with Ford rendering its well-known nameplate in sparkling gold adorned with rainbow graphics.
According to Ford, the comment was: “Well… that’s a cool car! – But that blue color is very Gay!!”
Ford redecorated the blue truck with gay pride rainbows, responding, “‘Very gay’ was a compliment, right?”
The positive response online was so overwhelming that the manufacturer decided to make it real and has been using it as a tool to help signal its support for LGBT+.
The “Very Gay Raptor” made its initial debut at the Goodwood Festival of Speed event near Chichester, UK, last June.
Ford and the owners of Ford Trucks were ridiculed online.

The ad campaign, called “Redefining Tough,” was released in line with the company’s latest mission statement:
“Ford Pride’s Mission is to foster an inclusive and supportive atmosphere within Ford for LGBT+ persons.”
“Ford Pride’s objective with driving Dash is to highlight Ford Motor Company’s inclusive commitment to the LGBTQ+ community and their employees, and a little fun along the way,” the company adds.

The campaign comes weeks after Bud Light’s parent company AB-InBev had lost billions after partnering with transgender influencer Dylan Mulvaney, and Miller Light followed their lead.
