Naples, Fla. – Today, Marco Island City Councilor Greg Folley, who is running for State House in District 81, announced that since his election to the Marco Island City Council in 2020, the Council has lowered the city’s property tax millage rate for the fifth time in a row, cutting the rate by 31%. The Council voted unanimously to reduce the rate during Monday night’s City Council meeting.

“On the Marco City Council, I have made it a top priority to reduce taxes and help Florida families keep more money in their pockets,” said candidate and City Councilor Greg Folley. “Last night, we voted to lower the property tax millage rate for the fifth straight time and is down by an impressive 31% since I assumed office 4 years ago. We have worked hard to keep Marco Island’s millage rate one of the lowest in the state, and residents are saving thousands. I’m immensely proud of this accomplishment for our community, but I know there is still more work to do in Southwest Florida and across our state to keep government small and taxes low. I look forward to taking this fight to the Florida Legislature to continue holding the line on taxes and relieving this burden for hardworking Floridians.”

Greg Folley’s spirit of service led him to seek a career in the Navy, beginning with the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis. However, during his sophomore year, after suffering two injuries during training, he was medically discharged from the military and completed his undergraduate studies and law school at the University of Notre Dame. During his professional career, which spanned nearly 40 years, Greg practiced labor and employment law, served as labor counsel for American Airlines, and then served as lead labor negotiator and later Chief Human Resources Officer at Caterpillar. Greg also led several of the company’s largest and most profitable divisions, leading teams of over 10,000 employees in 18 states and 18 foreign countries on six continents. Greg and his wife, Margo, are full-time residents of Marco Island. Since 2020, Greg has held a position on the City Council, serving a stint as Chairman from 2022-2023.
