Florida Women Fight Over Man, Throw Wheelbarrow Planter Through Window, Kick a Door In & Pistol Whip The Victim

Florida Women Kaylie Moya, 23, and Shakeria Mitchell (common spelling), 28, of Palmetto, were arrested and spent time in the Sarasota County Jail after an argument over a man turned into an off-the-chain, no holds barred battle royale of buffoonery featuring flying planters, a door-kicking home invasion, gunfire, and a pistol-whipping.

Kaylie Moya, 23, of Sarasota, was arguing via Instagram with the victim, whose name was withheld in accordance with Marsy’s Law, about a boyfriend they share.

The victim told Sarasota Police Detectives that she and Moya had been in an on-again-off-again relationship with their shared boyfriend for some months.

The victim claims she messaged Moya about their boyfriend at about 9:30 p.m. on Friday, January 20, 2023. to come to some agreement and put the fighting over their shared boyfriend behind them. Moya allegedly became upset and felt she was being accused of stealing their shared boyfriend from the victim. This issue was never adequately resolved, and Moya stopped replying to the messages from the victim.

That same evening, Moya, and Mitchell, who work together as aides at a local assisted living facility, arrived at the victim’s home at about 11 p.m. The women yelled for the victim to come outside and fight them. The victim refused to go outside; Moya picked up a wheelbarrow planter and threw it through the front window. Moya kicked the front door in, and then Moya and Mitchell entered the home. The victim ran back to her bedroom for safety, and Moya and Mitchell followed her. Once they got into the bedroom, Moya started hitting and punching the woman and pulling her hair.

The beating that Moya gave the victim got increasingly violent, and Mitchell allegedly tried to intervene and get Moya to stop attacking the victim. Moya pinned the victim to the ground and started choking her. Fearing for her life as she struggled with Moya, the victim took her .380 firearm and fired a single shot at the ceiling. Moya and Mitchell now tried to wrestle the gun out of the victim’s hands. Mitchell switched sides again because when she eventually got ahold of the firearm, she then commenced pistol-whipping the victim.

Pro Tip, if you are the victim of a home invasion, please remember this is a stand-your-ground state. Also, please don’t pull out a firearm unless you intend to use it. This might enrage the suspect further. And finally, don’t shoot into your ceiling or damage your property.
