Florida Woman Caught Using Stolen Credit Card Tries to Run Over Deputies

Florida woman Carina Holder, 27, of Davenport is in Sheriff Grady Judd‘s Polk County Jail charged with multiple offense and the attempted murder of two Polk County deputies when she tried to run them over with her car.

Polk deputies were called out to the Max Pay Pawn Shop on North Combee Road for a person attempting to use a stolen credit card. When deputies arrived, they attempted to speak with the suspect, Carina Holder of Davenport, but the Sheriff’s Office said she got into her BMW X5 and attempted to drive off, driving in the direction of deputies.

The deputies stated they were in fear for their lives and for others, and they began shooting at Holder several times to stop the vehicle, but both of them were still struck by her vehicle. Fortunately, Deputy Melissa Myers and Deputy Sheriff Hannah Peche were not seriously injured. Holder drove away, but deputies caught up with Holder about two miles away from the pawn shop. She was not injured in the incident.

Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd had this to say about the incident:

“The suspect has a criminal history of fraud and violence, and that’s exactly what was involved here today. Fraudulent activity is how this began, and she elevated it to violence by trying to kill two deputies with her car. Fortunately, she was quickly apprehended, and even more fortunate is that neither one of the deputies were seriously hurt.”

Holder was transported to the Polk County Jail where she is being held without bond and charged with two counts of aggravated battery against a law enforcement officer, armed burglary, and resisting arrest with violence. Charges for fraud are on the way also.

Sheriff Judd said Holder already had a criminal history in Polk County which included battery on a law enforcement officer and battery on an officer/firefighter.
