Florida rapper smoked minutes after dissing his enemies on social media
A Florida rapper was shot and killed in an apartment last Friday just minutes after calling out his enemies on social media.
Reports have identified the rapper as “Rollie Bands” who was based in Tampa.
The shooting occurred in the parking lot of the IQ Apartments in Tampa, Florida, on Bruce B Downs Boulevard around 3:30 p.m. on Friday, July 22nd, reported the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office. Upon arrival, deputies learned that the suspects had driven away from the scene in an unknown direction. It’s unclear how many suspects were involved.
“The victim was transported to a local hospital, where despite receiving lifesaving measures, he later died,” the sheriff’s office said in a statement, according to Urban Hollywood.
The police reported that the shooting itself may not have been spontaneous and that the victim and suspects both may have known each other.
Shortly before the shooting, the rapper took to his Instagram story to speak out, claiming that he was on his way home if they “want smoke”, according to HipHopDX.
On his social media, Rollie states that,
“A lot of these n****s know where I live at fr. I sleep in peace. If a n***a want smoke I’m at my crib in 5 minutes.”

This form of violence and carnage in the modern rap world is well documented and is one that has already impacted many this year alone. The mother of Atlanta rapper Young Thug’s children was murdered on March 18. Chicago rapper FBG Cash was gunned down this month. Houston rapper Snootie Wild died from gunshot wounds in February. And in another case surrounding rapper Young Thug, the musician’s nephew was arrested and charged with shooting and killing his girlfriend, per Breitbart.
Anyone with information on the Tampa shooting is asked to contact the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office at (813) 247-8200.
