Florida Men Steal Traffic Lights Using a Saw
Three Florida Men, Aaron Ward, 29, James Donnelly, 28, and Oleksiy Naumenko, 27, are sitting in the Hernando County Jail after they were caught red handed (pun intended) stealing traffic lights.

A Hernando County Sheriff’s Detective was on his way home after an off-duty job when he saw a suspicious van pull over on the side of the road at Commercial Way and Hexam Road around 0100 hours. Theft from construction sites is a major problem, and the intersection was being fitted with new traffic signals. The van driver turned off the headlights and soon after, the detective saw sparks emanating from the area where the van was parked.
The detective called for patrol units to head his way to assist him, and when deputies arrived, they observed three males using a saw to cut off the traffic signals from the support poles. After a bit of observation, the deputies moved in to make the arrest. A search of the van incident to arrest produced three more traffic signals.

The Florida Men were mirandized and questioned about the incident, and all three men admitted to stealing the traffic signals.
The Florida 3 were transported to the Hernando County Jail, and each were held on a $2,000 bond. All three were charged with felony grand theft as the lights are valued at over $5,000 apiece.
My compliments to the Hernando County Detective who took the time to observe this theft and call it in. Most law enforcement officers are on duty 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. You would be amazed at the amount of crime you witness when you’re in an unmarked police car or your personal vehicle. Thieves are in a hurry for a reason and they’re usually not paying attention to see if they are being watched.
