Florida Man Tries to Jump His Car Off a Car Carrier Trailer, Gets Stuck

A Florida Man who, unfortunately for Florida Jolt fans remains unnamed,  was cited for reckless driving by the City of Venice Florida Police Department, after he attempted to jump his vehicle off a car carrier parked on the side of the road.

The car carrier was legally parked, under a streetlamp, with its hazard lights on and ramps down delivering a car in the area.

Apparently, the driver had recently watched some Chip’s or Dukes of Hazzard reruns and decided to take a shot at a jump. We all know the General Lee would have made it, but his Nissan Maxima couldn’t pull it off.

The vehicle went up the ramp alright, but about 40 feet into the stunt, the gag went bad. The vehicle got caught in the carrier’s framework and turned sideways leaving about two thirds of the vehicle dangerously hanging off the car carrier.

Venice Fire Rescue was dispatched to the scene of an automobile accident near the intersection of Pinebrook Way and Pinebrook Road. When units arrived, they found the Maxima hanging off the carrier, about to fall off with the “middle aged man” driver still buckled up.

The hose draggers from Venice Fire Rescue told the man to stay put until they could stabilize the vehicle. They used ratchet straps to hold the front of the vehicle on the carrier while a wrecker driver used his boom to support the rear of the Maxima. The driver was then taken out of the vehicle.

The driver was not injured so Fire Rescue turned the buffoonery over to the Venice Police Department and the man was cited for reckless driving. Since the driver was not charged with DUI, I’m going to assume he meant to jump the carrier.

Hopefully, the driver was sent the bill for the mess he created.
