Florida Man Shoots Woman Over High Rent
Florida Man Ernest R. Lawson,33, of Tallahassee, Florida was upset over how high his rent was for his apartment, so he waited for a female employee of the complex to arrive and shot her.

Tallahassee Police responded to the Blue Cascade apartments located in the 400 block of Putnam Drive, just off south Monroe Street near the campus of Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University reference a shooting. Detectives from the Tallahassee Police Department’s Violent Crimes Unit were able to find out that Ernest Lawson, a complex resident, was apparently upset over high rental charges and was lying in wait for the complex manager to arrive.

When the manager arrived for work, Lawson approached her as she exited her vehicle, and shortly after the encounter began, Lawson pulled out a pistol and shot the manager. The victim was rushed to the Tallahassee Memorial Bixler Trauma Center where she is being treated for serious injuries.
According to the apartment complex website, a 4 bedroom apartment starts at $435 per bed, with an additional $20 for a private entrance. The apartments are set up in a dormitory style. There is a common area kitchen and living room area and each bedroom has a private bath and a separate study area.
Tallahassee Police Department Public Information Officer Alicia Hill stated, “She was not his landlord, but he was a resident of the complex.”
There have been no updates at this time as to the victims condition.
Investigators from the Tallahassee Police Violent Crimes Unit quickly developed probable cause for the charge of attempted homicide and shortly after the shooting, Lawson was taken into custody without any further incident.
Lawson was transported to the Leon County Sheriff’s Detention Facility where he is currently being held without bond on the charge of Attempted Homicide.
