According to a Melbourne Police arrest affidavit, Johnson was leaving for work when she was shot fifteen times in the back outside her home on Colbert Circle near East University Boulevard.

Johnson’s father, Torrance Clark, told officers he heard gunshots and saw Jones standing out front, staring toward the home. When he walked outside, he said Jones was gone and the found his daughter face down on the carport floor.

Fire rescue responded to the residence and performed first aid, but Johnson did not survive.

When investigators arrived on the scene, they were seen searching a black vehicle in the driveway, and crime scene investigators removed bags of evidence from the scene.

Johnson and Jones lived together until they broke up two weeks prior during an argument. Torrance said Jones had been “continuously calling and harassing Sha’Dayla to get back with her.” The report stated that Sha’Dayla ignored his calls and texts.

Jones’s mother convinced him to turn himself into the police. During an interview, Jones gave police a full confession to shooting Sha’Dayla because he was angry that she would not return his calls or text messages. When asked if he was remorseful, Jones stated, “no,” If he had to do it again, he would have killed both Sha’Dayla and her father. When asked about the pistol he used to kill Sha’Dayla, Jones stated he purchased the gun a week before the murder.

Jones was transported to the Brevard County jail and charged with premeditated first-degree murder. He is being held without bond.

Melbourne police stated the shooting is still an active investigation, and anyone with information on the shooting is asked to contact them at (321) 608-6731.
