Florida Man Keeps His Cool, Walks Out of Publix a Gentleman & Millionaire
A Florida man’s stroke of luck has turned him into a millionaire after he won $1 million on a lottery ticket he purchased from a Publix supermarket. Stephen Munoz Espinoza, 43, of Delray Beach, claimed a $1 million prize from the 500X THE CASH scratch-off game after turning a frustrating situation into a life-changing moment.
“It was the end of a long day, and I was tired. I stopped at Publix and was about to buy a ticket at the machine when a man cut right in front of me. Instead of saying something, I decided I’d just buy a ticket at the counter instead,” Espinoza said. “I can’t believe I won $1 million!”

Stephen Munoz Espinoza’s story is a reminder of the power of positive thinking and the Florida Lottery’s role in supporting education in the state. It serves as a reminder that sometimes good things happen to those who wait and that a positive attitude can lead to great rewards. It’s a win-win situation for everyone, not just for Espinoza and his family but also for the retailer, Publix in Delray Beach, who will receive a $2,000 bonus commission for selling the winning Scratch-Off ticket of the $50 game, 500X THE CASH. The game features a top prize of $25 million, the largest ever offered on a Florida Scratch-Off game, and the best odds to become an instant millionaire with overall odds of winning at 1-in-4.50.
